Nice setting for the wedding ceremony. Small porch and the bathrooms made it hard for larger groups.
Attended a wedding at this location. Beautiful place and had a blast!
The staff was very polite and helpful. The location was gorgeous. Great all around.
Way out in the middle of no where. Here for a wedding and it was very hot inside. Bathroom facilities are not the best. Nice setting for a small wedding.
The Lodge is beautiful and spacious inside, with a nice gazebo and setup perfect for a small outdoor wedding. Would be absolutely amazing in the fall when the leaves turn.
Beautiful venue and not hard to get to, despite the location!
Went to the lodge to check it out for my sister's wedding. We took the tour and the gentleman showing was very knowledgeable.
Great venue, just wished they had WiFi for people that didn't have cell service
We just had our wedding at Marrara’s Mountain Lodge. Everything was great! Just follow the rules and you’ll have a good experience. Previous reviews have mentioned how bad the caterer was, this is not true. The food was excellent. This caterer (Mountain Top Catering) has been in the business for how many years?! I think he knows what he is doing. He has a lot of great suggestions that work well with the venue. I took his suggestions on the food. We had marinated chicken, stuffed shells, green beans, potatoes au gratin, and the appetizers (meatballs, sausage w/peppers and onion, various dips vegetables and dip, and fresh fruit). The food was great! The caterer and his team did an excellent job setting up and tearing down for a small extra fee. This saved us a ton of time.
The reason for the mandatory caterer is so that the lodge owner knows who is using his kitchen. It is less liability for the owner and hence reduces the price of the lodge for you. There are countless other places that have this policy in the surrounding area as well.
Overall, the lodge and caterer are great and affordable. They were beyond my expectations. Some may see it as a downside, but they are old school and communicate via phone/in person. This can be a good thing though; I feel it helps them get to know you better and they can make your wedding more personal. The lodge owner does not communicate through email. I live in Texas, so planning a wedding from another state when the other person does not use email can be difficult. It did not cause any issues other than convenience of communication.
I highly recommend this site since you have so much freedom and you get it for the entire weekend! Other places allow you only a few hours to set up the wedding the day of and tear down that night?! This is your wedding weekend you want to enjoy it stress free and think of your family who will be less stressed as well. Give yourself all of Friday to set up, have your day Saturday, then tear down on Sunday.
The place is beautiful don't get me wrong. I went to book my wedding there and was told about the in house caterer you have to use no exceptions. After knowing we had to use them I asked around for different peoples input!!! What I heard was awful. I heard that the caterer wasn't very nice to some of the couples and their families and he is crazy expensive and will change the amount at the last minute. I called Mr Marrara asking him about these problems and to see if we could possibly get a different caterer in and he said no way he had no idea what we were talking about!! It's very sad because the lodge and grounds are beautiful and the price is great!! Unfortunately not great enough to be stressing at your most important day of your life!!! I had to switch venues and everything!!
