Quiet, comfortable, clean room. Great location near the ferry and restaurants. Grounds need to be picked up more regularly but I would definitely go back.
It was a last minute decision to stay in the Narragansett area and this was the only place with a room available. With taxes the room was $200 for the night. My husband spent the first 30 minutes killing spiders and I had to use Lysol wipes to clean. It took everything I had to stay because there was no other choice. This place needs a visit from the health department. In addition there was no water pressure, no closet, a broken dresser and the room smelled awful. The towels looked and smelled clean, that is the only positive thing I can say. Thankfully we were only there from 10pm to 8am. Skip this place!
For bird enthusiasts like myself this place can't be beat. The birds here are not afraid of people and will enter your room if your lucky. The memory not enough? Souvenirs are provided for free, all over your car.
The hotel provides a natural wake up call for
It's guests, beginning at 5 and not stopping until you depart.
Best night of sleep I have had in a while.
This is a huge property that has become run down and dated. The entire back yard is state property for parking for people getting on the Block Island ferry. Currently the restaurant next door is closed but the main problem (famously) is the huge amount of seagulls that take up on hoteliers' vehicles. It is not spick and span (but is clean enough to be sanitary) due to overstretched staff and does not include the assortment of amenities you get at a chain (coffee, breakfast, hair dryer, small appliances, etc.) The pool is out of date, the adjoining sauna and bar are closed. For the price they charge you could easily pay a bit more( $15) and go inland or north for all the chain amenities. However, this is the only hotel in Galilee and I wanted to stay in Galilee on short notice. I would not bring young children here, because I am picky about pool and floor cleanliness for their sake. For us it was an adventure, and two state beaches and four restaurants are within walking distance besides the ferry being right across the street. It was a quaint experience that pretty much met my expectations. I'm not afraid of low budget, we can go to Newport without dropping that kind of cash on lodging. My point in this long review is that this could be a one in a million property if the owner was willing to do a little sprucing up and particularly do some anti roosting measures with the gulls. I just find it a shame that somewhere as quaint as Galilee and Great Island think of this huge amazing property as a black eye in the neighborhood. The only thing that could be a true health hazard is diluted gull poop dripping off the roof and potentially into the pool, but I can't prove that.
Yes, there are seagulls every near the back of the motel. They were nesting near the bushes by my room's front door and they chased us protecting their eggs. It was crazy but funny. They poop everywhere outside, but we called it the poop zone and laughed about it! Housekeeper was nice and attentive. It's the type of place you shower and sleep nothing more and for that purpose it was good. I wouldn't walk bare feet in the room (it didn't look clean) but overall, the room was clean and everything worked. The room needs some painting and newer fixtures, though. The pool was warm and the area was clean. No complaints for the price.
It was horrible. There was mold on all the lampshades. Not just a little, a substantial amount. The roof leaked in the pool room. There is bird dropping everywhere, which I would assume since the droppings were everywhere, that the multiple leak in the roof had the droppings dripping into the pool.
The rooms are very nice and well kept. However, there is bird poop everywhere so watch out. It is right across the street to the block island ferry so it is very convenient if you are travelling to block island.
I was a little worried about staying here based on some online reviews I saw blasting this place. If you want a five star hotel with lush accommodations this is not it.
If you want a clean hotel with friendly service and a location within walking distance to every local attraction, this is your place.
There are a lot of seagulls. There is a bird sanctuary locally and you are close to the sea. Get over it.
Outside was awful, bird poop EVERYWHERE. Pool was freezing. Ice machine, vending machine and hot tub all out of order. Rooms were not as bad, pretty clean. Bed was comfortable.
