Lafayette Coney Island is a great place to get late night food, especially after a night in the town in Detroit. As a Detroit landmark, this is a must-visit if you are here as a guest. It is often crowded, especially late on a nice, summer night. The wait is with it though. Whether it's for lunch, dinner, or at 1am, you will not be disappointed by the scrumptious chili dogs and crisp French fries. 😊
Amazing Coney's! They get everything right and don't even write it down. They are incredible people here!
Tourist attraction for sure. Not much more than loose meat slathered over a dog or burger bun. I can definitely eat a few of them and its cool to watch the Faisal Ali carry an arm full. Its a fun place to catch a quick bit. You wont find anything else other than that here. Enjoy!
Trounced American Coney Island as far as I'm concerned. The dog itself had good bite, good flavor, and the chili was rich and the onions deliciously crisp. Service was friendly, in the restaurant's unabashedly no-frills style. Highly recommended. Would definitely eat again.
Lots of memories here. Just a great place to get Coney dogs and fries, that's about it. These guys move quick so know what you want when you walk in. FYI if it's super busy and people are standing waiting for a seat, don't be that group that wants to sit and chat for an hour after eating. Get in, eat then Charlie Mike.
Best coney around! A staple of Detroit and a place everyone should visit if they're going downtown. Be warned it's cash only, but very reasonably priced.
I'm sad to give this place a 3 star. All my previous visits were unique and memorable. My party was served some of the wrong items and after they were on the table the server disappeared. I hope it was a fluke but as it stands right now very disappointed.
EVERYONE knows about this place. It's simply the hot dog legend of Detroit. Always good food. I wish it was a little bit bigger and quieter inside but that's what also makes the atmosphere unique.
Went today for the first time. Not bad, but not worth raving about as many seem to. Don't see any reason to go back, it was decent, but I've had better hot dogs in Louisville.
It's really one of those places that everyone raves about that turn to be just meh. Average.
I didn't feel comfortable with the cleanliness of the place but they've been at it for so long, this is how they operate
The atmosphere. The smells. The coney. It's all great!
Ask around and everyone will direct you to only this place for Coney Island hot dogs. Hands down the best in the city. Excellent flavour and always fresh. Fastest service too.
I am so glad we got a chance to stop here for lunch before we left Detroit. The food, the service, the atmosphere was excellent! Our waiter Tommy was awesome and we can not wait to come back!!!
No frills is the best way to describe the experience. The menu is simple and our waiter just shouted at us to see what we wanted. The food is decent and super cheap, and the whole experience was fun. Don't go if you are expecting a "normal" sit down restaurant (or are vegetarian). It's also cash only - fortunately we fed 4 people for $14.
