Salesmen very helpful. Great selection of tools, hardware, and finishing products. Prices are high compared to big box stores though.

When looking for high quality wood and woodworking tools, this is the place hands down. The tool being offered are of the highest quality and the prices reflect it. So if you want a cheap power tool go somewhere else, but for the serious cabinet maker or furniture builder thier tools are perfect. Always great service and knowledgeable staff.

I dropped in to Johnson looking for A1 red oak plywood to match the existing for a cabinet job I've taken on. Jacob (yard employee) was pleasant and willing to pull out the bunks of plywood I 'd asked for to allow an A-B comparison, then even offered a 3rd alternative with Shop Grade rift/quarter-sawn at a good discounted cost to me. This is a level of service I rarely encounter these days, and if there was a 6-star rating I'd give it. I'd already looked for the same grade of plywood at a local big box store where the employees were indifferent, I'd have to buy the sheets sight-unseen, pay shipping to the store, then risk a restock fee if I was not happy with itSO I made the 150 mile round trip to LL Johnson and I'm more than satisfied with what I purchased and and will do it again.

This place should be your last resort. The service here, as others have said, is ridiculous. The have great stuff, the guys in the barns are knowledgeable but the customer service is arrogant and misleading. I had an error on my order in spring 2015. They promised to fix. It took months. Over several weeks I called 10 times and NEVER received a call back. Not 1 time did someone EVER call back. If you can source your order somewhere else, DO IT. If you must use them, be sure to inspect every item. You do NOT want to try to solve a mistake.

Best place near Lansing for serious woodworkers. Fantastic wood shop tools, books, plans, and lumber for turning and furniture making. The staff is very knowledgeable and generous with their time.

L. L. Johnson is a full service lumber yard. They have both standard dimensional lumber and a wide selection of hardwoods. Their store has many hard to find hardware items, finishing products, tool, and various woodworking supplies.
I first became aware of L.L.Johnson about 4 years ago when I attended their Wood Expo. Wood Expo has all the woodworker needs by way of instruction sessions that show "how to" and offer a wide array of manufacturer booths with all the latest and most popular tools and wood related offerings.
L.L. Johnson themselves offer better than "standard" pricing on hardwood assortments at this fine event. I highly recommend attending Wood Expo and buying from L. L. Johnson.
