Aside from a few rotten apples, the staff at Kokomo Auto World seem happy and helpful. The service is polite and professional.
Update: Kokomo Auto World took steps to correct the situation. I will give them another try.
Go anywhere but here for service.
Do yourself a favor if you need service, take the time to drive to or Indy or Lafayette to a dealer that won't lie to you and values your time. I'd give these guys 0 stars if I could.
This is my second bad experience in two months and the second time I've caught them lying to me. Next time I'm going to an independent garage or out of town.
This dealership is worse than any Doctor's office I've ever been to when it comes to not valuing your personal time.
Based on my phone history and a GPS tracker in my van, I've been able to put together a timeline of my experience. Read on if you want to hear a tale of dismal customer service and lies.
I had an issue with the transmission in my van. I wasn't sure if the van was safe to drive in or not.
The website shows the service department opens at 7:30am.
7:30am begin futile attempts to reach someone at service department
Repeat every 5 minutes
8:00am leave second message
Continue to repeat every 5 minutes
8:30 leave 3rd message, give up and drive another car to Kokomo AutoWorld
Service manager advises vehicle should be towed. Transmission flush will take 60-90 minutes
So far, so good
8:53am call tow company, advised it will be 60-90 minutes
9am My appointment time
10:52am vehicle pick-up
11:12am Vehicle arrives at Kokomo AutoWorld. Admittedly, the vehicle is late. But, I was very diligent starting at 7:30am in my attempts to contact them to get the car to them on time.
1:29pm contact Kokomo AutoWorld to see if my vehicle is done. Service manager on phone does not know. But, promises to call me back.
Phone call is not returned!
2:10pm second phone call, second person PROMISES to find out what is going on.
2:27pm I'm called and told that tow driver dropped the van off. Service manager tells me that the tow driver did not come in. He simply left the keys in the vehicle and left. (later I contact the company, they dispute this fact. Since Kokomo AutoWorld has LIED to me before. I tend to believe the tow company). I tell them I need my vehicle by 4pm. I'm told this is still possible. Even if their story was true, they just wasted a valuable hour of my time.
At this point you'd think they'd rush the job.
3:28pm GPS tracking shows vehicle is finally taken into the service bay. Another hour wasted.
3:45pm Call to see if my car is done. Told it will be about 20 minutes.
3:55pm driver arrives. Very prompt. Driver Matt is great. I think this was the only good experience.
4:04pm Vehicle is moved out of service bay. About this same time I arrive at dealership. I'm told they just need to get my paperwork
4:33pm Vehicle is moved from one side of lot to another. Not sure why?
4:35pm Follow-up with service manager to inquire what is going on. Another 30 minutes left waiting. Excuse is that accounting has a whole stack of end-of-day paperwork to process. OK, but I'm waiting in the lobby. Only three other people are waiting. AND, at this point you've repeatedly dropped the ball on my repair. I little rush would be appreciated.
I continue to wait.
5:00pm I decide to go look for myself and find my van is done and parked in the back. At this point, I again approach the service manager and tell him I've been waiting an hour to simply pay and pick up my vehicle.
Update:
The following Monday KAW promised to contact me to make the situation right. It's now been one week. I have NOT been contacted by KAW. Funny way to make things right.
Best experience I have had with a service department. They are very honest, keep me in the loop with everything, quick turn around even on big repairs and reasonably priced. Would never take my car anywhere else for repairs. Buying with them is so easy as well. I have bought several of my cars from there and would never go anywhere else.
Absolutely the most honest sales and service department I have ever worked with. I've been buying cars, trading cars, servicing cars and recommending Kokomo Auto World for almost 15 years. I have always been treated like royalty (I am not) and fairly. We have owned both Honda and Toyota vehicles and get treated the same way. When we bring our cars in for regular service, they have provided clear communication on recommended service and necessary service. When another dealer quoted me $650 for a tune up, Kokomo Auto World service tech quoted me $220 for service I needed, not what I didn't need. I always recommend KAW for new cars, but also used. They have helped my employees find cars in their budget and I can always trust they will be in good working order. My auto business and service will always be with Kokomo Auto World. Thank you
I had my oil changed at TIres Plus and they started it without oil. Kokomo Auto World, where I bought the van new, diagnosed the problem of a broken cylinder and fixed it for less money than the quotes I was given elsewhere. Multiple services performed there and am always totally satisfied. Thanks Greg W.
NEVER. EVER. AGAIN! I bought a 2014 Honda CRV EX. After I drove it for some time that evening, I discovered the vehicle was not a good fit for me, physically. I called within 24 hrs of signing the papers and was told nothing could be done, which after to speaking to other car salesman, found out was not true. If you have to deal with Andrew Bedwell, go prepared. He will lie to your face. He also pulled my credit 5 times which knocked 50 points off of my FICO score.
I read the reviews on here and called and asked to speak to the owner. Never got to speak to the owner. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience.
Kolton Lynas was fantastic! Dropped in on my lunch break to check out some of the new cars on their lot. I'm traveling for work, so I knew this wasn't going to be the lot I purchased from. Knowing this, they answered all my questions regardless and let me test drive the car I was interested in. I wish I didn't live so far away, otherwise I would buy here. Very grateful for the help I received today!
Came for a recall notification and indicator on my dash. Since I was only there for the recall initially, they made room in their busy service schedule to get me taken care of immediately.
Kokomo Auto World was an all around great experience. The workers are laid back and not pushy one bit. Our salesman, Kolton, was awesome! A friendly, down to earth guy who was willing to do whatever to make sure we got the deal we wanted. It's not everyday that you can actually sit down with a salesman and talk about other things beside money and truly enjoy visiting with them! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an easy, smooth process when looking to buy a car. The finance guy, Chris, was also great and made the paperwork side as easy and painless as possible. I will definitely recommend Kokomo Auto World to friends and family!
Dad was looking for a newer car. WE checked out another dealer first, and I suggest after that visit we just see what was on the lot at Kokomo Auto World. We found an almost new Accord in his price range, they hadn't listed yet on their website. The salesman (Chuck Conkle) was very helpful in finding a car that was the right fit. Nothing like new car smell without new car price!
My experience was awesome! I have bought before at Kokomo 'Auto World and would surely return for my next vehicle. Cain was friendly and knowledgeable as well as helpful. I felt that he was interested in assisting me in getting what I wanted.
I had a repair that I felt should have been covered in the warranty that I purchased. The warranty insurance company did not believe they should pay. Jim & Nick worked with me and between them reduced the cost of the repair saving me about $460.00. Megan (who was the person who first contacted the warranty company) was also very polite in working with me. I appreciate these employees very much. Because of them I am very comfortable remaining a customer of Kokomo Auto World in the future. (Kokomo Auto World has always taken good care of me and this has latest interaction with them has confirmed this conclusion.)
