We were pretty disappointed by Kingston Mines for our holiday weekend. We were looking for somewhere that is a Chicago classic with more of a local vibe and while Kingston Mines has a good name for itself, we were disappointed that we paid $60 in cover charges for 4 of us to be able to go on and there was a 2 hour lull between sets where they just had background music. Our server wasn't very personable either and seemed annoyed to be serving. We also ordered food but the portions are small and both food and drinks are pretty pricey especially after the cover charge. Not a great Chicago experience for my family who comes so far to hang out with us. We won't be back.

Kingston Mines is a fairly big, but still intimate blues bar with a lot of character. With two stages in two rooms, in Kingston Mines the music never stops.
The Sunday blues jam, hosted by local celebrity Linsey Alexander, is a jam hosted with true passion. Attended by a mixture of regulars and visitors, every person through the door was welcomed like a friend by both staff and customers. Kingston Mines has a true community spirit.
The two music rooms are decorated beautifully with paintings telling the history of the blues. The art work is stunning through out and really sets the mood perfectly. I really recommend going early, before the bar fills up to see it all.
I did not eat at Kingston Mines, but I did feel the narrow tables and room layout looked impractical for eating. I also have to mention that the toilets were terrible and desperately need a deep clean.
But I had a great time, so it's still a good score from me. I highly recommend Kingston Mines to any blues lover looking for an authentic blues experience.

A friend of mine got kicked out tonight for no reason and the bouncers were unreasonably rude. They tried to move us away from her and force us to stay by blocking the door despite our insistence to leave with her. It was a big group of girls and we felt incredibly uncomfortable around the two towering male bouncers, particularly because the female manager was egging them on to badger us out of the venue. We’ve been there many times and now don’t feel comfortable recommending it to anyone we know

Went here for the first time with a group of friends and had an incredible night! Cover was a little steep ($15), but it was a weekend and they have a ton of talented artists they have to pay, so it's understandable and worth it. They also have really great food if you get hungry dancing the night away

Absolutely amazing place!!! The dual stages were spook much fun. The music never stops and the drinks are so reasonably priced and they just keep coming. I'm 44 and I would be hard pressed to remember having a better time in my life at a venue. I will be back every time I get a chance. Amazing job!!!!!

At first glance, a $12 cover may seem like a lot. But when you get inside it is worth it! With a wide selection of beers and liquor, and an even wider selection of amazing vocal ranges, it is the perfect mix for a fun night out.

Great to bring a date to for some one on one time, or a double date to show off how fun you are as a couple. Heck you could even make it a (insert gender here)'s night and go as a group!

Specializing in Jazz and Blues this bar has a lot of soul. You won't get enough of those sultry voices and true to heart lyrics.

In short. This is NOT the place to go if you want to bar hop. This is where you go until 4am and you love every minute of it!

Walked into this place not really knowing what to expect. And I was a little surprised at a cover (again I had no idea what the night had in store for us). But once we got in I was blown away by the quality of music and all around great atmosphere. My wife and I were with some friends listening to Corey Dennison. His band was incredible and entertaining. We had a blast. Definitely a must visit if you love blues music.

Went Sunday night July 2. My second time here & just beautiful. I danced all night long. The musicians r great. My cheese sticks were good but not hot enough. No tissue in women's bathroom & bathroom stall floor was wet & nasty. Definitely gotta have someone keep it clean. Overall service was great. Will go back in future & bring others

Waited over 30 minutes for a beer. Short waitress with long brown hair walked by me more than a dozen times and even took my order once then forgot. Other shoulder length dyed blonde waitress walked right past me 3 times. Blues was good but hard to have a good time when there is no service.

Visited from out of country for first time in 26 years. Great to see such revitalization in this neighborhood and such a young and fresh crowd in Kingston Mines.I guess that's what is needed in order to keep these treasured and storied institutions alive for new generations to enjoybutsad to see, like so many others of our iconic blues destinations.this place"s former grit and character have definitely been diluted in the process. Up side: this neighborhood feels much cleaner and safer to visit than 26 years ago, and that is a good thing with wider reaching benefits.

This place is AWESOME! I love the music here, and their drinks are reasonably priced. The best part, by far, is the food in the back. The entire place smells incredible. I'd suggest *not* eating before you come here so you can not feel guilty when you want to eat :)

Has a bit of a dive bar feel in a good way. There's a open seating and the tables are bench like & you order your food & pick it up in a window in the back. It feels relaxed. The music alternates between their 2 stages and the music is FANTASTIC! This is Chicago & it's some of the best blues you'll find in the world. My only gripes are seating can be tough & since I went on a Friday night it was a really big young bar crowd there. Not nessesarily a con but wasn't was I was expecting when going out to watch live blues

Kingston Mines, has fantastic music ! Depending on the night you might hear a mix of blues, soul, r&b, rock and more..Open 365 days a year. til 4am Sunday-Friday and til 5am Sundays. 2 bands every night , 2 dance floors , 2 bars..lots of seating. The food is FANTASTIC, BBQ at its best! Tons of liquor options, Drink specials and beer bucket deals every night! My favorite music venue in Chicago. Hands down. There's no place like it.
