Went here due to the large gluten free menu listed online. Asked for the menu when we sat down, then ordered off it specifying again gluten free, like the menu prompted me to do. The salad I ordered still came with crouton things and the waitress was uncaring. I do have celiac, but had just cheated on my diet the day before so I figured crumbs left from picking the croutons off wouldn’t kill me if the meal the day before hadn’t. Probably won’t return, regardless.
Mmmm, deep fried clam strips! Jambalaya is a favorite. The rotisserie chicken plate is a great option if you've got a person in your party who doesn't like fish.
I had the crab cakes and my husband had the walleye both were great. Everything tasted fresh and was seasoned very well. We would definitely come back if we were ever in Houghton again!
Lunch menu was varied with many seafood options. Service was efficient and cordial.
Decorated in a nautical theme. This was our first time eating at Joey's and will definitely be back again.
I have been to Joey's several times and it was my overall favorite spot here but something made my very recent visit my last. If the owner/manager (the person in the Hawaiian shirt) is quite rude then he lost a loyal customer. I came in a time where it seemed he was understaffed or is having a bad day but it doesn't give him the tiniest right to stare/take my order/serve the way he did. The waitresses in there are much more respectful and thoughtful to a point that makes me sometimes ignore brownish lemons if I were served some. I felt really terrible it was like don't come here again which I promise I will do. I try not to hurt, upset, or judge anyone and expect others to treat me the same. If my guest wasn't so eager for it, I would've left the moment he took my order.
Blue Crab Rangoon was good, clam chowder was tasty & kind of stands apart from your average chowder without straying from traditional style, shrimp nachos were decadent! I was excited for my local trout entree after that great line up but it was, unfortunately, fairly mediocre. Not to say it was bad, just the fish & sides we're just average after what came before..they do have an interesting menu so I'd love to come back..
We just left an awesome dinner here. Eating out with a one year old is always a challenging experience and the staff were almost like co-parents in the way they enthusiastically kept him entertained. Servers that weren't even our own stopped by to give him a smile or a balloon. I was so impressed with their cheerful attitudes. And the food was delicious too!
Stopped in for a quick bite. Service was fast and friendly. Fish and Chips was excellent. Atmosphere is airey and historic. Very nice place to go.
One of the best restaurants in the area in my opinion. Servers are great, food is good, prices are good, the place is well kept and clean. I had Eric as my server and he was fantastic!
The food was great! My wife for the fish tacos and they were huge, much bigger than what we expected based on ordering the same thing elsewhere. I got the popcorn shrimp and it was also very good. The service was a little lackluster but that's being nitpicky. My wife got the mojito and didn't really care for it but that's a personal preference thing I think. We'd definitely go back!
Great place if you're hungry as we were after hiking 40+ miles on Isle Royale. The fish tacos were huge, for example, and all the seafood felt immaculately prepared. It's not the best seafood of all time, but it will make you happy
Cocktails were very good. Server was friendly. The food was not good. I had scallops and thet were cold and chewy. We will not be going back.
