Here for the New Year party. Fun ball drop with Apple juice toast! My suggestion is ride the train to the back and work your way back to the front. The exhibits are not a loop so once you get to the back you the kids are loosing it. So ride the train and start at the back, you’ll thank me later! Great zoo and awesome exhibits and gardens. One of my favorite zoos!!
Thorougly enjoyed this place! A few of the exhibits were closed so we didn't get to see everything that the zoo had to offer but it was still a great experience nonetheless. My 4 and 9 year old loved seeing the animals in their "habitat" they also loved the train that took us through the zoo. I felt that the train ride could be more exciting but we were taken by a lot of behind the scene stuff like staff parking and we couldn't really see some of the exhibits that we passed due to trees being in the way. We did like the 4D show that we saw, Rudolph the red nose reindeer" it was the old school version and the chairs vibrated and they threw actual snow at us and bubbles! It was pretty cool! We are def planning on going back when we return to FL so that we can see the Gorilla exhibit when it opens in 2018! Great family fun place!
The reasoning behind my rating of the zoo is because I have seen much much better. From my personal experience of going there I noticed that many of the exhibits we're either empty or the animals were hiding in a corner out of site. If you do decide to come here words of advice would be to not spend the extra money to gain access to all of the extra things like the train ride. On the train ride I saw more facility buildings than animals.
By far the best Zoo in Florida. Animals seem very happy and have a ton of energy. They were feeding all the animals while we were there to keep them active. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We even got to feed the drafts! Can't wait to go again.
This zoo is wonderful! My family and I have been going for years and never leave disappointed. Fun for friends, families, dates, and photographers alike. There is so much to do depending on the season. Honestly, I feel like it's too much to even know where to begin writing about . Best advice, go with the upgraded ticket if you have kids. Unlimited train rides, carousel rides, access to sting ray bay, the 4d theater and probably other stuff I'm forgetting.
Make a plan beforehand about what you want to visit and experience so you can try to get as much as you can & plan to bring some extra dollars in cash along with you. There are several exhibits where you can feed the animals for only a dollar and they are fun to do! We always feed the lorikeets, stingrays & giraffes if they're around and eating. I try to do these things first thing in the morning because otherwise the animals may get full & not always interested later on.
There are lots of educational opportunities and all their staff members are top notch.
Well worth the time & money! You could spend several hours here & still not get everything in.
It's a nice zoo. I think extras (train, carousel, etc) should be included with a membership. The Halloween party was worth the money years ago. It doesn't seem worth the money now. When the weather is nice, it is a great place to spend the day.
Absolutely loved our visit! The zoo is very well laid out and it is easy to go from exhibit to exhibit. We don't have kids but it would definitely be a great experience for kids too! Saw many different animals and we loved the loreekeet (spelling?) exhibit, you NEED to buy a cup of nectar and feed them it is super fun!
I had my wedding reception at the Giraffe Loop and the Range of the Jaguar and it was an amazing experience. My reception was the weekend after hurricane Irma hit Florida, so needless to say we were a little worried about how this venue was going to look post-hurricane. They had the zoo cleaned up and perfect for us! It was amazing what they were able to do in such a short amount of time. Christine took care of all of my needs and made the experience an easy one. It was flawless, and I know she worked really hard to make it that way and to make sure I did not stress about anything. I would definitely recommend the zoo for an interesting, fun wedding reception experience! And the food is awesome too :)
Fun place to go. Love the whole zoo. They are constantly making upgrades. The new manatee pools are nice. I'm a long time member. Membership is much cheaper than paying every time you go.
Sting Ray Bay was totally worth the minimal extra charge. The grounds of the zoo are well kept. The introduction to flora was instructional and beautiful. Every zoo personnel I interacted with was knowledgeable and friendly. Although we only stayed for 3 hours my 6 year old son and I had lots of fun.
We had a great day at the zoo. The animals seem well cared for and their enclosures look more than adequate. They had a great diversity of animals. We had lunch there as well and their prices were good. $6 for a kids meal and around $10 for an adult. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable too. I'm glad I finally made it there after living here for five years.
Enjoyed our visit this morning. The zoo was clean, the staff friendly and overall appearance was well kept. A zoo pass enables short frequent visits so you get your money's worth and avoid long hot days.
The zoo is great fun. It's large enough to offer diversity, but small enough that you can do in a couple hours if needed. Littles will enjoy the splash pad, petting zoo and jungle gym. While there are some exhibits only visible from the train (like 2), I wouldn't recommend as it only has two stops, runs infrequently and runs out of space. The tiger exhibit in Asia is awesome and worth the seemingly long trek out of the way. The Jaguar exhibit in South America is a must see.
It's a zoo. Not rating it higher than three stars is probably more to do with how zoos make me feel then anything else. I do understand that this zoo is run largely on donations. There are some places that look and feel a bit run down. For the most part it looks like they do a good job. It's a great place to take the kids for a day trip. Food and drinks aren't ridiculously priced at least in comparison to buying them at a theme park.
Great place for a family get away great variety of animals to see. There is really so much to see so I would plan for a day trip and they also have a little water park for the kiddos inside so pack the kids swim wear. Most of the walkways are shaded so you don't have to worry too much about sun exposure. Really the best zoo I have been to in awhile.
