JMC remodeled our master bathroom. We were very happy with JMC from start to finish. I chose them because I read the reviews thoroughly and liked the fact that they will come back to fix any issues with their work as long as you are still in your house. It made me confident that the work would be done correctly and well, and it was.

The whole process with JMC was very organized and well done. I knew exactly what was going to happen at each step of the project and communication with everyone involved along the way was thorough and easy. Someone would text me every morning when they were coming and even while in the house if they needed to ask me a preference for how something would get done, so I did not have to worry about it interfering with taking care of my baby. When we wound up leaving the house while the job was completed, I was texted daily pictures of the bathroom by the tile installer so I could see the progress.

Choosing the design for the bathroom was also made very easy because JMC has a showroom where you meet with their designer and pick everything out ahead of time. The designer used pictures from my Pinterest to help guide my decisions and it all came together very nicely.

I cannot imagine a smoother process for a home remodel. JMC kept the house as clean as possible during the renovation, which was also important to me. I also found everyone who worked in our house to be very professional, and I didn’t have to worry about them not respecting our feelings towards prioritizing safety with masks and social distancing. Lastly, when I noticed the light fixture was a bit crooked, JMC automatically replaced it without hesitation. I am very happy with our decision to use JMC and with how the bathroom turned out.

We had two full baths renovated by JMC. Their designer helped us pick out material based on our style and needs which was very helpful considering all the options you can choose from. JMC contractors were efficient, clean, and thorough. What I loved is they called each morning to let us know they’re on their way.. hope they keep that up! All said would definitely recommend these guys. It’s nice to work with a company where you’re not just a number and they know you.

What can I say? JMC has been our "family" contractor going back for many years. If my memory is correct our relationship with John began over 20 years ago when he completely renovated a kitchen within a new green house in my brother's home which has held up beautifully over the years. 15 years ago they completely remodeled my daughter's home which included a huge addition, 3 new bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, etc. I cannot remember ALL of my own home projects but they include a new master bath, siding, new outside deck, and garage entry. We have never had any post construction problems.
The work quality is excellent. His employees are professional, punctual, and very responsive. Based on my experience I can recommend using JMC without reservation.

We have used JMC for more than 15 years!! We've used for complete remodelling of our kitchen and all bathrooms to creating a new bathroom to simle maintenance and repairs. John and the JMC team have always taken great care of us and our home. They are completely trustworthy we give them the key to our home to do work over weeks while we are away. Just a great firm with great people. My go-to place for any work to be done at the house.

This is my 3rd time using JMC in the past 5 years and, once again, they’ve been fantastic. From the first phone call to the wrap up visit, it’s always been a great experience. They stick to the schedules, their guys always call to let you know when they’re coming or if they’re running late, they put plastic down and keep the area they are working contained (the kitchen was the biggest project and they made it very manageable.) I’ve always been happy with the workmanship and if we run into a snag, they will present you with some options and work with you to make sure you’re satisfied with the end result. Nothing but positive things to say about John and his group! I’ve worked with other contractors and hands down, they are the best!

We have previously used JMC for three bathrooms and a major renovation of our kitchen. So we are very familiar with their process and quality. This project involved renovation of a living room with the addition of a fireplace, removal of wall-to-wall carpeting, renovation of the hardwood floors (repair of any damaged wood, staining and refinishing), installation of custom cabinets and floating shelving, and installation of recessed lighting. For those not familiar with the process, it involves a detailed planning stage, followed by a carefully planned implementation. The implementation planning is to ensure time management such that work is going on every day except for inspection days. This has allowed our previous projects and this one to be essentially completed within the original time estimate. At this point I should emphasize that for projects like this in an older house you should expect “stuff to happen” and it’s important to have a good contractor and good carpenters on the job. In this case the issue was installing the fireplace on an internal wall and threading the chimney through the second floor and attic. Our lead carpenter, Tom deserves a “shoutout”, because he was the one who ultimately figured out how to install the chimney with minimal interference on the second floor. We did have a problem with the custom cabinetry, in that the cabinet doors arrived damaged. These were reordered from the manufacturer and had a four-six week delivery time. However the rest of the project was completed on time, and the doors were swapped out later. Bottom line we are very pleased with the work and would recommend JMC for anyone wanting a top quality renovation.

JMC is the only contractor that has met our expectations for workmanship, professionalism, and customer service. We knew that we were paying a premium for their services, but the end result was WELL WORTH IT. John MacDougall is very detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering a finished product that is unmatched in quality. New Jersey can be a scary place to hire contractors for renovation work, but you can trust JMC to do an amazing job.

JMC renovated our basement to make it the nicest living area in our house. The design was perfect and the plan was executed to perfection. The employees of JMC, from the owner to the workers all were professional, respectful, timely and perfectionists. They completed the job on time and under budget.

We added a wet bar into the basement as a separate area and it all came out better than we envisioned when we saw the drawings. JMC made us feel as if we were thier most important client and delivered on every promise.

We highly recommend them and can not wait to use them for future renovations on or house.

JMC did a great job on two bathrooms and a hallway/foyer renovation. Before they started, they gave us a start date and a completion date. They completed on time – unusual for this kind of work and very appreciated. Everyone was very professional, on-time every day, neat and clean throughout. I especially liked that they were very meticulous in every detail and made sure everything was perfect. I would definitely hire them again.

Our side hall colonial house was built in 1918, and we wanted to make sure we worked with people who had experience with old homes. We also wanted to hire someone who would handle the project from start to finish- specifically, deal with obtaining permits, coordinating with plumbers, electricians, dry wall specialists, etc. From the moment we first contacted JMC, we knew we were in good hands. Debbie was the first person we spoke with- she asked general questions about what we wanted done, our budget, and expectations. From that first phone call to the last, she was pleasant and simply a pleasure to deal with. John MacDougall (owner) came out to our home to see the space and get to know us and what we wanted. He walked us through the JMC process, and we could immediately tell he cared,and wanted the project to be a good fit for both JMC and us. Why we hired JMC: their good reviews; we liked that they took care of everything, including materials and design; John is a hands on-owner; they are extremely organized and professional. With JMC, we had a great experience designing our new space. They thought of a way to design the space that we would never have been able to think of ourselves. Every detail was picked in their office showroom- which saved us time and energy! Tammy walked us through it all very logically and guided us along the way. She answered every question we had with patience, and she was wonderful to work with! Jack acted as our project manager, and there isn't a nicer guy. He communicated with us regularly, and we knew our house was in excellent hands. The quality of JMC's craftsmanship was flawless. I am a perfectionist, and came home every day amazed at what I saw. The tile in our bathroom, on the floor throughout the space, and back-splash was literally done with such care and attention to detail, that I am still amazed when I look at it all. We trusted them in our home for 12 weeks, never worrying who was there, or what we would come home to at the end of the day. During the course of the work, they identified a serious issue related to wiring throughout the house, that dated back to the 1918 construction. They immediately notified us, and put us in touch with the electrician that they use for their projects. While it was very upsetting that we had this unforeseen issue arise, the electrical company not only took care of everything (rewiring our entire house), they were just as professional and reassuring as JMC. The extra cost was painful, but putting our minds at ease in making our home safer was worth the price. Overall, we are super happy with our new space and gladly recommend to others. Without a doubt we will hire JMC again. In fact, we have had a few times where we have reached out to them for advice (not related to our renovation), and they were super responsive and helpful. JMC truly cares about their clients long after the project is complete. Their reputation for quality is well-deserved.

Every aspect of JMC’s remodel of our bathroom went as promised. Selecting tile and fixtures in the showroom was convenient, and John and Tammy provided tremendously helpful expertise throughout the design process. The demolition phase was impossibly neat—except for the plastic draped around the bathroom door and the stairway, there was no evidence that any work was being done in the house. Our kids made more of a mess than the demolition team. JMC provided daily updates throughout the remodel so we knew exactly what was going to happen each day. The end result is excellent, due in large part to Mario’s meticulous attention to detail. We plan to use JMC for our next remodeling project and we enthusiastically recommend them to anyone considering home improvement work.

John and the entire JMC team are one of the most professional and meticulous contractors I have ever worked with and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about doing work to their house. From our initial meeting with John, I was given the impression he took great pride in his work, but once we met with the rest of the team, and saw how they worked, we understood it wasn't just John, but the entire organization.

Tammy, JMC's designer, held our hand through the entire design process and made making decisions about the cabinets, flooring, counter tops, etc. a breeze. JMC handled all purchases and deliveries which meant no worrying on our end. Tammy also worked with us through the entire project, making sure we were happy with all our decisions and even showed up to our house to make adjustments halfway through the project after I had called her with a question.

Once construction started, we were even more impressed. Jack, JMC’s foreman, was always available if something came up and he went above and beyond to make our kitchen perfect. Their carpenter, Henry, was there EVERY day (which is a shock in comparison to some contractors)! I cannot speak highly enough about Henry, who made sure our kitchen came out perfect. On day 1 Jack showed us a calendar of how the next 6 weeks of work would go, and working in commercial real estate, I thought that there was no way they would keep to that timeline. Amazingly they finished EXACTLY on schedule and I thank Henry, Jack, Tammy and Val (JMC’s painter) for that. Their professionalism, cleanliness, and attention to detail made the entire project as painless as a kitchen remodel can be.

I am still in shock how our kitchen turned out and how amazing our experience was with JMC! If you are debating which contractor to use, choose JMC.

JMC has done several projects in my home. John MacDougall and his entire team are courteous, trustworthy, creative and knowledgeable about anything related to home renovations. The workers are clean, courteous and always on time. They call each morning letting you know what time they will be there, clean up the area that they've worked on EVERY DAY, and complete the jobs on time and within budget. I wouldn't use any other company than JMC Home Improvement Specialists.

JMC recently did my bathroom. Although not the cheapest they were outstanding. They did exactly what they said they would do. It is rare today to find a company that does this. Their workmanship was excellent, their crew that worked on my project was outstanding, and their follow up on this project was outstanding. I literally had no complaints about a full renovation on a bathroom. John is the owner company and takes a personal interest in your project. I would completely recommend JMC to do your project.
