Its a 100 year old establishment trying to maintain its historic nature and still offer modern facilities. This place is all about the wonderful people who are members great food and drink and having fun
Cool place. Hospitable, gorgeous view. Quite the place in it's hey day I'm told. If the walls could talk
Fantastic place
Defiantly not five star, however the ambiance and community feel of the place make up for it. we currently have a membership, room, and a boat slip. we don't have a boat tho. we use the boat slip to park our RV and use the plug at the slip for power. we go out every other weekend.
Some great friends invited us to an event that was held at IHYC a couple of weeks ago. They were very upfront that this was not a 5-star resort by any means. We were staying the night in one of their 'rooms'. We saw our room in advance, and reluctantly chose to pay to stay and have fun with our friends.
When it came to staying in the room, however, we just couldn't do it. It was absolutely filthy. Ceiling tiles were missing, cobwebs everywhere, bugs everywhere, the bedsheets and pillows were worse than a youth hostel in Bangladesh! We didn't even ask for our money back, we just left and drove the 90 minutes home.
The owner(s) of this place ought to be ashamed of themselves. The property and location have so much potential, but the entire place the bar, the "lodging", the restrooms, even the boat docks are disgusting. I'm surprised that they can even pass fire or health inspections.
It is sad. Very sad that an entrepreneur can get away with this. Sell it to someone who can make something out of it.
