The staff is fantastic! Yes, the facility is outdated, but it has been under new ownership since. They are in the process of updating and renovating the entire entire facility, one or 2 sections at a time. We are holding a conference there in the Fall and I've seen progress as I've visited every few months. They are more than willing to work with groups and are so helpful and friendly. This place is going to be awesome as it gets restored.

Honestly don't even know where to begin with how disappointing this hotel was. The best comparison I can make is to an overpriced filthy hostel. The carpets were stained and the lobby and hallways smelled like mold. Our room was barely passable for clean. We found soap that was already open and loose hairs in the bathtub. There was a door that opened up to a balcony which was held together with a flimsy lock. While the staff was nice it was clear they didn't care about the quality of the establishment.

I don't like to leave poor reviews, I try to find something good to say about each place I stay so I'll start with that. The conference staff that they hire here each summer are amazing people! They work long hours, are friendly, helpful and VERY professional! I have come here repeatedly in the last 8 years for a specific conference and I have seen the same workers year after year and they are always extremely dedicated to providing above standard service.
The fact that their support staff is so dedicated makes the reality that the owners, a Chinese conglomerate, care so little for the premises a terrible contradiction. The facility is run down, full of roaches and reeks of chemicals. The electricity fails when you try to run a computer at the same time as the air conditioning in any of the conference rooms. The hallways and common are as are shabby and haven't been updated in all the time I've been coming here.
When I finally got into my room at 8pm the opening night of the conference, I immediately checked my mattress for bedbugs, as I had seen online that they had suffered an infestation earlier in the year. Imagine my surprise when I found a LIVE baby cockroach. I immediately took my bags and went to the front desk to inform them and all they did was offer to change the sheets. I explained that I really didn't think the roach had dirtied them and checked out. I stayed elsewhere for the duration of the conference and alerted the organizers of the conference.
The property has lost their liquor licence the day before our arrival due to another guest becoming so inebriated he fell down a staircase and instead of calling 911, they put him to bed and left him there. He had broken ribs, a broken shoulder and internal injuries.
The pool was closed because earlier in the year a child drowned in the pool and they didn't report it to the health department.
Accidents do happen, but one would hope that when you stay at a resort YOUR safety would come first, that obviously isn't the case here. Cleanliness obviously doesn't come first either. Money comes first and customer service comes last.
I wouldn't recommend this resort to my worst enemy. Avoid it at all costs!!response / report this review -

The staff were kind and food was plentiful. These are things that are not to be taken for granted. If you're not going to swim for fun or exercise in the gym, you can have plenty of fun (when not working) playing "Where am I?/Where are you?/ (And) How soon can you/I get there?..-The layout of this hotel can easily be an enjoyable adventure. We look forward to exploring the surrounding area (as explained by the everso informative staff) too, when we hopefully have a bit more free time during our next booking.

Was a guest while attending a conference. The hotel is very dated, but clean! The food was decent for buffet, but I imagine it would be much better if only being prepared for small groups! They are support animal friendly. Be sure to check the box springs before allowing your animal (or children) to play around the beds, our box spring was open on the bottom and it could have been very dangerous with all the springs exposed! The spa is also quite dated but all the amenities were working properly.

Yes, Resort is an old Catskill Resort. Amenities abound, IF YOU USE THEM!
Hotel Staff is personable, and really accommodating.
IF you're looking for something sultry and sparkly, this is NOT the place.
And, IF you're looking for spacious rooms, beautiful views, and a wonderfully quieter time, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!
I found NONE of the negative remarks previously posted!
If you're into the 40s-50s quaintness of an old time Catskill Resort, this IS the place for you!!

Friendly staff and beautiful grounds, but aging structures, facilities, and upholstery. Musty scent throughout the complex. Feels like an abandoned hotel. Rooms are understandably dated but clean!

If you ever wanted to know what happened to those DIRTY DANCING era resorts nestled in the Catskills that didn’t have to decency to close down when their era was over, keep reading this review of THE HUDSON VALLEY RESORT AND SPA aka the Granit.
Clearly NOTHING has been done to this hotel since the seventies, if then. The carpets are threadbare, the sheets and bedspreads have a feel of having touched too many bodies, furniture in the room may be non-existent (not every room has a desk) or broken (my room’s dresser was missing a handle), or absent (a member of my party had to call to have a phone and TV remote brought into the room). The locks on the doors are not the strongest, and that is particularly disturbing since my room had an outdoor patio and someone could have easily pushed that door in.
The bathrooms are another matter altogether. They too, are ancient, cramped, and depending on the time day will lack hot water in the shower. ALL the time there is little water pressure in the shower. The shower curtains my room had mildew on it, and the walls had dents and other unidentifiable marks in them. This went for the walls in the bedroom part as well.
While I did not take advantage of the amenities offered (I was quite frankly afraid to given what I have described above), the one amenity I counted on, the free Wi-Fi was spotty at best in public areas and non-existent in the rooms.
The only decent thing about this hotel is its staff. They were quite nice and courteous when they could be found. They were present at all times at the front desk, but barely seen elsewhere. At breakfasts and other meals the staff would try to clean up and shut down the service a half-hour to hour BEFORE the meal service was scheduled to end.
There was a complimentary bottle of wine in the room the weekend I was there, but I suspect that was so guests could drink away the misery of staying there.
Sadly, (and I do mean this since there are very few other accommodations in the area), this place should be avoided.response / report this review -

I was here this weekend for an event and honestly this hotel sucks. The staid well smells like cigarettes, most of the hallways smell like weed. In the room I was in, I was sharing it with 3 other people. 2 beds. But our shower was broken. Literally falling out of the wall. Most of the electrical sockets were not working. Honestly this place is so worn down and smelly. The castodians all look like drug addicts. DO NOT go here. This place absolutely sucks and needs to be updated asap

The resort had friendly and excellent staff, except place could use a little maintenance(which they are working on).But since the the snow was frozen , they did not tell us that there was no skiing snowboarding, and snow tubing. Had a nice restaurant inside (except only open for breakfast).Only 1 suite had a jucuzzi , but they did not tell us that the spa had a jacuzzi (free of charge if resident of hotel). Indoor pool was nice except closed the hot tubs and had some bugs.Was a little creepy though because not a lot of people were there at the hotel . Beautiful Views!
