A very neat step back in time! Well preserved, nice rooms, beautiful dining room, and good food!

This place has character. The walls tell stories. The restaurant downstairs is quiet, but tasty. The rooms are as comfortable as they need to be and no more.

The elevator doesn't work, the wallpaper is peeling, the toilet is tiny and rusty, and the TV is quite small. If you care about those things, you're staying in the wrong place.

The room and furnishings were very dated, but it was cheap and easy for an in-and-out.

Tasty food, enchanting setting, s.l.o.w. service (order a bit off, no refilling of drinks, had to ask multiple times for the check, etc.).

Great hotel! The family who owns it is very friendly and it is a great all around experience staying there. Rooms are all unique, you can see inside so many if you get there before others check-in.

I attended a work function that was held at the House of Ludington. Absolutely loved the food, service, and atmosphere! I did not stay in the rooms, but I did take a look at a few of them. I would definitely lodge here! Turtle cheesecakeTop notch!!!

Great experience. Historic, great views, clean rooms and cool bar/restaurant. Definitely a step back in time. Where else can you spend a night in a 1865 hotel? Unfortunately didn't see any ghosts.

We stayed here for one night on our way over to MI proper. This place is a blast from the past, a real piece of history nearly 150 years old. We opted for the king lake view suite. It is a sizable room, with an adjacent sitting/dressing room with the shower and separate room for the commode. There was a secondary half bath on the other side of the bedroom which came in handy while getting ready. The bed was comfortable, the linens clean and soft. We were too late arriving to have a drink the bar, but it looked cozy. It's clear this place has seen busier, grander days. Sitting in the lobby or dining room, you can almost feel the hum and bustle of a by gone era. Some of the rooms have become apartments, and a sign on the door declared "we are not closing!". None of that could take away from the charm, beautiful Lake Michigan view, and friendly staff. I would stay here again in a heart beat!
