Brought the family to the island for five days bringing the camper over. The campground is needs a little better upkeep did not see the owners around much.The kids did love the swim pond and the lodge has board games for rainy day activity

Me and my wife stayed last weekend on a whim and it was the best idea we had all weekend friendly staff, we had a pop up camper and it fit in the site perfectly was a tad worried about the noise of other campers but as soon as the sun went down so did the noise. I will defiantly coming back!!!!

We had a group of 6 and 3 tents with a site at Newport State Park. We didn't realize that all the sites at Newport were backpack/hike-in so when we got there, we were quite surprised. Every other campground was booked. We called Kayla at Washington Island Campground and she was beyond helpful with our situation. It was 6:00 and the last ferry was going to be leaving at 6:30. She was incredibly helpful and kind. They have a really fun swimming area with inflatables that children up to adults (like us 25-year olds) loved! My boyfriend and I have already decided this will be an annual summer tradition :D Loved it, thanks SO much!

Horrible camp grounds with very little to no upkeep. The camp site itself was fine. As for the rest rooms and showers, they were terrible. We were there for four days and they were not cleaned once. Mini golf was completely unkept with long weeds. Seen trash out at sites; per camp rules you place it out for pick up. This did not happen the whole time we were there. Try to find someone in the office, good luck. Picnic tables full of moss or just plain rotted out. This place does not look at all like the pictures on the Web site. They are either from along time ago or photo shopped. This could be a great camp grounds with some effort, which is non existence at this point. We will never go back or recommend this camp ground.

The camp ground is good. Their office area provides all supplies like firewood and essentials for camping. Also they have a nice rest area, beach like volleyball area and a pond for fishing. Nice place to do camping..

Horrible upkeep. We just got back from this campsite. We went with 3 families and NONE of us showered while there. The bathrooms are absolutely horrible. I don't expect super clean but at LEAST cleaned once a day would be nice. We arrived on a Thursday and left on a Sunday and I honestly don't think I EVER saw a worker on the grounds other than in the office. Let me list the reasons this place is not good. 1) The "mini-golf" had a dried out fountain, missing pieces, some holes grass tarp was actually pulled off the hole and lying in the grass the entire time. 2) They actually ran out of ICE on Friday AND Saturday to purchase. 3) Our neighbors partied until 1:45 AM with no site of a ranger to enforce the 10:30 quieter time. Again, I don't expect people to go to bed, but don't play music extremely loudly until the wee hours of the morning. 4) Garbage in the office area was overflowing all day. You could not have fit another cup in the garbage. 5) There was stranded clothing left by the "swimming pond" when we arrived on Thursday, it was still there when we left. 6) We paid extra for 3 electrical tent sites, the electrical boxes were over 20 feet in the woods. Our extension cords were not even long enough to use them. We actually thought we were put on a non-electrical site but the worker told us they were "in the woods somewhere, keep looking".

In the end, this campground COULD be great but there is absolutely NO effort by the workers to do anything. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone even if it was free.

I do not understand what the problem some of the previous posts have about the place. If you are familiar with any camp grounds you would know that they go above and beyond to help accommodate your needs. I have been going here for the past several summers. Although it might be rudimentary for those who are looking for luxury cabins or a need for AC when camping.They provide sufficiently for the camping experience. They have the standard quarter per shower but you do get them back. Recreational space outside that is relatively decent.

Two years ago, some friends and I had plans to backpack on Rock Island. However due to the complications on the way up, we could only make it to Washington Island. The owners were kind enough to open up the showers and facilities for us This was after they had closed for the season mind you. We were able to set up and have a place to stay in a time of need.

The tent camping sites are quiet and peaceful. There is ample space for you to set up camp without the disturbance of your neighbors being shoulder to shoulder with you. I definitely recommend it, and will personally be going back again in the future.
