I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff was nice, the room was clean and a good size, and I liked my view. Since staying in New York can be expensive, my friends and I chose a good place for a better price.

The location was convenient, only about a block from the closest metro stop However, the N train to Manhattan doesn't stop there on the weekends so we had to walk a bit further to head into the city on Saturday/Sunday. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean, if a bit beat up. Nice place to stay to be close to Manhattan. The free coffee and tea in the lobby were nice too, though there weren't any travel lids.

Solid spot near some hip stuff. Quiet neighborhood however. Offers easy access to subway and Manhattan access.

We had a good experience here. The rooms were clean (looked modern), beds were comfortable and staff was friendly. Our daily trips into Manhattan were typically 30 min give or take. We would stay here again.

Notes that would improve stay but not deal breakers:

Lamp with outlets by the bed (like the one on desk) would be helpful (we had to be creative with our 2 CPAP machines).

Larger coffee cups in the lobby. I was using 2 of those little hospital water cups that are provided (always a challenge getting in the room when both hands are carrying something).

Parking - always an issue in this city and I don’t think there is any getting around it so be prepared to feed that meter and/or move to alternate side of the street (8:30/9:00 am).

Our shower head was loose but still worked fine.

Elevator is slow.

This is the worst place I've ever been. As we open the door the bed was right in front of us. The room is so small, you can hardly move without hitting your legs on the bed and the so call dresser, with the top keeps falling off you have to be very careful not to break anything or damage yourselfwe couldn't even get a good shower, the water was cold..They advertise free breakfast on the house, when we asked about that it was no longer available.
They need to reversed the website as everything they mentioned is not true.
I would never recommend this place to no one not even my enemy.

I had a room purchased through Priceline. At the time of check-in I was told that they are merely out of rooms and I have to take the room they have at the ground floor.

During the night, it turned out to be terribly noisy. We could even hear the phone ringing at the front desk. It kept us alive until 4 AM and it basically ruined our whole trip. I was going to the front desk and coming back to the room literally until 4 AM.

The next morning, they told me that they are gonna move our room to the 9th floor and refund us the first night. Now that I call them to follow up on the refund, some rude lady keeps telling me that your room was "UPGRADED" for free to one with two beds, and therefore there is no refund on the first night!!!! YOU B**CH!!! I didn't want a room with two beds. It was just me and my wife! Why the hell would I need a room with two beds??? I ONLY NEEDED SILENCE AND NOW THAT YOU TOOK IT FROM ME I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! OTHERWISE I WILL SUE YOUR ASS FOR THE ENTIRE COST OF MY TRIP BECAUSE NOT HAVING ENOUGH SLEEP IN THE FIRST NIGHT RUINED OUR WHOLE TRIP!!!

That's why people book hotels!!! To have comfort and peace and getting some quite sleep!!! Otherwise, one would better sleep in the street and save him/herself the trouble!

It was a very nice hotel. The room I stayed in was kinda of small bit still nice nonetheless. It had a balcony I could go out and a standing shower. I enjoyed my brief stay here.

Hotel Vetiver is good value for money for a New York hotel, with convenient, quick access to Manhattan with a number of close by subway stations. The air conditioner in the room was a little loud and the website needs to be updated to remove the fitness room. Otherwise though quite a decent hotel for the price.

This was one of my better stays in LIC area. The hotel has a large sized room, small kitchen and a balcony. You don't find too many hotels with a balcony facing NYC skyline. Their prices were decent but if you can get a discount even better.

Nice little boutique hotel, with view of midtown from room balcony. 39th Ave subway stop was 2 minute walk from hotel from which the N or W trains can take you into the centre of Manhattan or 10 minute walk to Queens Plaza where the E train can take you to JFK airport or lower Manhattan. Staff were efficient and courteous, the room was clean and well equipped with hair dryer iron coffee machine and walk in shower. Would stay again

The Good: The room was solid, spacious for the price and reasonably clean. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and towels were clean, and the A/C cooled the room right down. For the price, the night's stay was more than reasonable.

The Bad: The website clearly stated that while there was no on-site parking, there was parking nearby for a fee. However, when asked where this lot/garage was located, the woman at the front desk informed us that she didn't know, and that "there's definitely a lot somewhere around here you can park in, I think." When asked for directions, she was completely unable to help, leaving us to fend for ourselves (we ended up leaving the car at what appeared to be a less-than-reputable lot a few blocks away).

More bad: When checking in, we were required to provide a $100 security deposit instead of simply giving a credit card for them to hold. Upon checkout, we were told that this deposit would take two weeks to be refunded, leaving us to wonder whether this was going to require follow-up in a couple weeks once we were already home.

If the hotel had been more helpful with the parking and hadn't left me with an uneasy feeling about the charges on my credit card, I would be far more inclined to give a better rating. If you aren't driving to this hotel and you bring $100 cash for the deposit, then you will be very satisfied for the price. Just be aware that you're very much getting what you pay for.

Hotel is one block from the train station. There are a couple of restaurants in the area and a mini market next door. The rooms are nice and the staff was friendly. The only issue I had was with their complimentary breakfast. It came with the room however, when I went to eat the hotel tried to charge me $10. Don't bother taking your leftovers to your room because they will charge you $10.
