Cute little getaway but it could be updated as far as furniture and more comfortable bedding. People here are the best! Definitely returning just have to remember to bring something to put on the bed to make softer. Felt like I slept on the ground. Lots of outdoor activities. Small lake for canoeing swimming fishing. Lots of history too. Great for families and quiet adult getaways.
We love this place. We have visited several times and find it a great place to rejuvenate and relax. The host are friendly and helpful. The last time we were there (early Sept. 2017), several additions had been made that made it even more fun.
We rented out the entire resort for our wedding and LOVED it. The property is so beautiful, and Sally & David are the most helpful and gracious hosts. Many of our family and friends travelled from out of town for our wedding, and all of them still talk about how much they loved the experience. I whole heartedly recommend Hidden Hollow!
The turmoils of life fade away when you set foot on the grounds of Hidden Hollow. This is a family owned and operated resort that takes much hard work, personal monetary and physical demands from these folks who put their lives in to this place of true serenity. Upon reading the reviews from the last week, I find myself truly bothered by slanders of Sally and David. You should all give yourselves a week, maybe just a few days in their shoes to see the amount of work that goes in to such a lovely, peaceful hollow in GA. Your experience is unfortunate, but I guarantee that I've spent more time there while in GA than all of you combined..I've watched generations pour sweat, blood, and tears in to making Hidden Hollow what it is today. Please consider your emotional post/review as one that should be more thought out, and perhaps rephrased.
This place is amazing!! David and Sally are wonderful people, so sweet and generous. Hidden Hollow is one of my favorite places to visit. I've had nothing but a wonderful experience! Great facilities, well cared for and kept clean. It's a perfect weekend getaway!
I used Hidden Hollow for my wedding on September 9,2017. We gave the non refundable down payment to sally several months in advance. When we met with sally to pay the deposit, she told us quiet time was 11:30pm & the bartender had to be packed up by 10pm. The night of our wedding sally & her husband came in at 9:45pm really upset that the bartender wasn't gone yet & made us turn off all the music. They were rushing us to be out of the pavilion by 10:30pm & we were so confused because when we paid our deposit sally said we had to be out by 10am Sunday morning, not 10pm Saturday night. They were all in our guests faces ordering & bossing them around while packing up. Our guests were coming to us complaining several times, so finally I walked up to sally & asked her what is going on & to be straight forward with me! She acted like everything was fine, when she was making my guests clearly feel like everything was not okay. We had a live cover band play at the reception. She told us when we put our deposit down that a live band was perfectly fine, that they had them there previously & just to have them stop playing by 11:30pm . The next morning when our families Checked out of the hickory hall inn & something apparently spilled on one of the mattresses. As my family was pulling out of the Drive they got chased down by Sally's husband who was absolutely furious about the wet mattress. He demanded answers on what had spilled very rude like ! Saying he's having to throw the mattress away. First off, you run a business where multiple people stay in those beds year round. Second, you run a place where people are allowed to celebrate with alcohol then sleep in the cabins, WHY ARE THE MATTRESSES NOT PROTECTED ? Also why are you not prepared for something like that to happen ? Especially with younger children staying the night that might occasionally wet the bed? All in all, my opinion of sally & her husband is this: they are greedy money hungry cowardly hypocrites that hide behind their "Christianity " as a front to make all the money they can off you. They pretend to be nice & loving until they have all your money, then they lose the fake respect that they had for you while you were paying them. In addition to that, you pay all this money for the venue, cabins, & all the wedding essentials. They don't offer anything that goes along with that. They only suggest people. There are much more beautiful nicer places than this that offer services like coordinating, or catering in the price that you pay for the venue. I've looked at several places that are the same price of this but are all inclusive even !!! It's ridiculous !
I visited this place for a wedding. The parking sucked. The venue had many rules. I was surprised that the venue was not cleaned before we arrived, cobwebs & dust were everywhere. The couple made it beautiful, as they put a lot of work into decorations.
It was a great venue for this hippie crowd. The lake was a nice background & my daughter enjoyed riding in a canoe after the ceremony.
However, I would not recommend this place for a wedding of elegance or when handicap or elderly access is needed. Do not expect much help from the venue. The bathrooms were very difficult to get to. The bridal room for getting ready can get crowded easily & the window A/C is not sufficient.
This place would be nice for a group retreat, or if you want to be in the woods in a cabin just enjoying the outdoors. I do not know the cost of anything, this is just my observations from attending a wedding.
This place is relaxing, peaceful and perfect for family fun. If you want something fancy and high tech you need to go some place else. This is our second trip there with our family and we plan to go again. The owners are very nice and want you to have a enjoyable time.
Great place and folk's!
Great service and atmosphere. I was there for my cousin'' wedding. Very private and secluded.
Well, beautiful place; but not fancy cabins. The biggest pet peave of my experience about this place is they have a beautiful pond but you are only able to fish one side which in reality is a quarter of the pond and when you come with 10 people to relax and fish it is nearly impossible. If you like to look at a pond and half way get to fish one, then this place is for you! Very disappointing when you love to fish!
It's a beautiful location for a wedding and family time
