Great view, however neighbors are close.

I recently met my BFF of 46 years for a brief weekend getaway. I found the cottage quiet, quaint and very comfortable. I loved the rock in the deck, it gave so much character to the out side view. Speaking of the view it was fantastic! We sat out each night and enjoying natures beauty, from a chair. After hiking for 4 hours and 600 stairs to the amazing waterfall in CloudLand state park the hot tub was a welcome feature!!. My friend and I had and awesome time!. If your looking for a peaceful rendezvous I highly recommend Buzzard's Roost!!

Our recent visit to Buzzards' Roost Cottage. 4 adults stayed here over a weekend.

    Pro's:
Very easy to find and a nice drive
    Very cozy
Great rock feature coming through the back deck. Loved all the rocks around the yard
The view was amazing when it wasn't raining.
Nice touch with the eggs waiting for us in the frig. Made us feel special and cared for.
Loved the hot tub for ending the night each night and having beach towels separate was great.
The beds were very comfy and there was enough bedding to meet any type person.
Having a choice of grill types was great (gas and charcoal) just bring your own charcoal.
The hammock was amazing, along with the swing for peaceful reading.
Cloudland Canyon park is a must and only 15-20 minutes away and a parking permit was included (just remember to leave it for the next people).
The loft bedroom is beautiful and very bright in the mornings (good or bad depending on YOU).

Here are my con's but they aren't by any means anything that diminished our stay AT ALL. Just good to know ahead of time.
    Con's:
Only one car parking spot. If there is two cars, due to the loop drive you have to jockey who is leaving.
Pretty steep incline once parked IF you have any physical problems. With that, there are stairs 25-30 up to door from parking area. You need it, you have to carry it all up.
The very top stair step needs replaced. It has bent down and it was dicey when it was raining. Also the bottom rock stair step get slick in rain.
If you decide to cook, think about buying some throwaway plastic containers with lids. While they have bowls, no lids. Or bring cling wrap and Ziploc bags would work.
While the house is cute and has lots of neat things to look at, EVERY horizontal useable space has stuff on it. The small ledge by the kitchen table was PACKED with nick knacks. Every coffee table and end table was PACKED. This would have been nice to have all of it freed up for our use. We had to keep everything on our tubs and keep pushing them out of our way (we cooked and ate there the whole time). It made it just shy of cluttered. Less is more.
Very cozy, small living room and with rock through deck, small deck area.
Bring your own knifes if you are big cooks, while they have loads of them, they are all dull. We tried using the sharpener but it just disintegrated it and did nothing to sharpen.
    County does not allow campfires.

All in all, the owners were very responsive and we had no problems. The house was very clean and had just about everything an average group would need. GREAT price and location. I would recommend to others.

This wonderful & very cozy cottage on top of Lookout Mountain has Amazing views, & hot tub, is clean, & provides everything you need for a relaxing and romantic get away. The previous review was so off base & totally false! & the result of a vindictive scammer! Visit Home Away listing # 453039 for the accurate reviews, over 110 of them, actually! The Owner is a dream to work with & responds to your questions within moments. The location is a short drive to Rock City, Ruby Falls, Cloudland Canyon, & downtown Chattanooga, as well. Highly recommend!! Pricing is fair & you will be delighted!

We had a horrific experience working with Gail. Horrific is actually an understatement. This is not about the money to me, and I have never written a poor review on anything before, but Gail should NOT get away with how she treats customers.
We booked via HomeAway and couldn't list the amount of pets so when she sent me my invoice I told her about the pets, then noticed my invoice said 2 people so told her it was 4. She later told me I was "dishonest" and called me a liar for not putting this on the "initial" request even though I have written proof of alerting her of this well before our stay.
She told me it was fine with the invoice as is, (I offered to pay for the 2 additional people which was $15 pp per night and she said no need and asked that I wash the sheets upstairs to account for more people staying. Not only did we do this, but we also thoroughly cleaned everything even though we paid a $65 cleaning fee.
Upon departure, we left at 11:15 am, only running late because of all of the cleaning we did (and she charged us a cleaning fee.) Turns out she was spying on us from her house a couple houses down all weekend (which really creeps me out nonetheless,) and said we left at 11:40 am and that she arrived at 11:42 am to clean, (which is a load of BS because I have proof we arrived at a restaurant 30 miles away at 11:45 am) she then told us she found blood stains, (sorry this is still funny to me.) What she really found was a baked bean spill on $5.99 Wal-Mart trash can that she claimed was all over the kitchen. Keep in mind we Windexed the counter and cleaned thoroughly.
She then stated that the house smelled of dog poop (still humorous,) and that she had to get the carpet cleaned AND that it was wet. I have a feeling she claims this with all pet guests who visit here as we crated both of our dogs the one time we left them and both are SUPER house trained.
She then made us FedAex Air Overnight her park pass which we did and she then told me she had to spend $50 to buy another which makes absolutely 0 sense.
Long story short she is refusing to give me my deposit back, has no proof of any damages nor were any made, and has been nothing but rude. I would not stay here if it were the last place available. The view is nice but she IS NOT worth the headache. I have never been so disrespected in my life. Again, this is not even about the money anymore, this is about the way this homeowner deals with her customers and I believe all perspective guests should be aware of the headache a trip here entails.
