Was in RI for a vacation, really nice & quiet hotel, very nice staff. made my vacation perfect.
Great hotel in downtown Providence. Very close to everything. Only wish I had curtains that weren't just the sheer kind. Didn't feel very private.
Went to visit Providence for the FireWater festival. First off front desk agent "Dee" was fantastic! For being just a Hilton Honors member, you are rewarded with a snack and water bottle!
This hotel is at the heart of the city so it's easy to access anywhere!
They do have complimentary breakfast! They don't have complimentary parking (valet for $28) however behind the hotel there is overnight parking for $20 bucks! I'd definitely weighs come back here!
Friendly staff and big, clean room with a great view of the river. Breakfast could have been better but it isn't any different than other Halton Inns we've stayed at. I'm mostly taking about the "eggs." Their waffles are great.
Nice hotel. Comfortable beds. Decent breakfast. Would stay again.
After staying here for the week, I felt that I need to change my rating and also explain why.
First, this is a BEAUTIFUL hotel. The renovations were done really well while keeping the spirit of the original structure. Each person that I spoke with at the front desk, whether while checking in or asking for recommendations on where to eat, were super nice and helpful. This hotel is convenient to so many places in Providence that I did not even use my rental car the entire time I was here. I walked to all the restaurants (including in Federal Hill and College Hill) and was able to walk to the train station to catch the train to Boston for a visit.
The breakfast provided each morning was delicious. The conference I was in town for also provided breakfast and I chose to eat each morning at the Hampton Inn. There were plenty of choices each day: scrambled eggs or omelets, bacon or sausage, waffles, cereals, juices, delicious coffee and more.
I stayed in the room with a king-sized bed and sofa. The room was very spacious and well laid out. And lots of windows for natural light! The amenities in this room include: a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, alarm clock, sound machine, hair dryer, writing desk, and tv. There are plenty of places to plug in your electronics (which seems to always be an issue wherever I stay). In fact, there is a convenient charge point on the night stand with two USB ports and 2 receptacles.
The 2 primary reasons I removed a star (went from 5 to 4 stars) are this:
1. All the "systems" within the room are very loud. I can hear when other rooms have flushed their toilets and each time my AC unit turns on and off, it's a bit jarring. I wear ear plugs out of habit sleeping next to a snoring husband and still had to wear them here with the constant background noises. The white noise machine did help with covering the noises, but there were still some impacts.
2. This bed was horrible. The primary function of a hotel is to give travelers a comfortable place to sleep and this bed was anything but comfortable. I could not find a position where it did not feel like a spring or a lump of something was sticking into my body. In fact, it triggered a back issue I have been dealing with and I had to have my doctor call in a prescription for muscle spasms. I don't understand why more focus isn't given to beds by hotels (there are so many good mattresses out there that have no springs in them) and it always seems to be a point of contention with me. Bad mattresses happen so often that I probably would not have even brought it up except for the pain I have been in all week due to it.
Buteven with these two items, this was a fabulous hotel to stay at and if they can get the whole bed thing resolved it would easily be above and beyond a 5-star hotel.
Providence was booking up fast after a different hotel messed up an order of mine. Took me in last minute. Got greeted and treated better than expected. Nice room. Turned out to be a nice neighborhood as well.
Really nice hotel in the heart of Providence. Really nice rooms and lobby. I'd definitely go back there to stay.
The staff here really made my stay great from dinner suggestions to complimentary items. The breakfast selection seemed to be a bit lacking compared to other hotels, but for a complimentary meal it was acceptable. Rooms are nice and clean. Great downtown location convenient for walking. I will be coming back here whenever business brings me back to Providence!
The service and location are good. But the building is too old and you can hear very clearly the tv, alarm clock and guests' conversation next door.
Very nice hotel! My family and I needed a place to stay the night and easily found the Hilton. They gave us a rollaway bed and everyone was very helpful, plus we all got a free continental breakfast. The hotel was very close to lots of bars, restaurants, shops and night clubs.
Yesterday, winter storm Stella hit Providence; the city was totally shut down. Businesses and restaurants were closed. It was a pleasant surprise to go downstairs of this hotel to find complimentary lunch served. Sandwiches, cookies, and chips were laid out for stranded hotel guests. It was a gracious and thoughtful gesture of the Hampton Inn.
The hotel was clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff was nice. There is no way to close the blinds though and plenty of light gets in making for very early mornings. Other than that we had a great stay.
My husband and I came in to visit family for Christmas. We arrived a little late and was greeted by the Front Desk Associate like we were family. She was very friendly and asked us how our trip up was. She made sure we had the right type of room (handicap accessible). The room was clean and spacious. The location was in the downtown area and was close to everywhere we needed to go. The complimentary breakfast always had at least 3 hot items and a very nice variety of other items. The Associate who was assigned to replenish it every day was efficient and friendly.
In the 5 days that we were there, we met Associates from every shift and each one of them were wonderful employees and enjoyed speaking with us.
