This was a good Hampton Inn. Key, at the front desk, was very polite and friendly. The rooms were very clean (we kept the Do Not Disturb tag on the door, so I can't speak about the quality of the maid service). The complimentary breakfast was really good. Our specific shower was a little weird and the red side was for cold water and the blue side was for hot, which was a little confusing, but otherwise everything was great.
Barbara the front desk clerk was very condescending. First, I could hardly understand her heavy accent and she talked very fast as she stormed into the lobby while I was sharing breakfast with two other guests. We were sharing college band videos as she stormed in telling us to cut our music down like we’re some kids. We were literally 8 feet away from the reception area where she was standing as we shared music from my iPhone. This was not a good start as when my wife and I checked in last night we realized several issues that should’ve never been. As I complained to Barbara about the issues all she had to say was “I’m so sorry for this.” She had no remedy and her tone was phony as were her facial expressions. As I continued to lay out my dissatisfaction she didn’t write not one complaint down. At this point she’s getting frustrated with me and seemed to get overwhelmed. She walked away to go in back to get the manager but stayed for about 10 minutes. To make things worst by the time Mr. Muse (the manager) came out it was clear that Barbara had biased me. He came out defending her. As I shared the following with Mr. Muse it was clear that my dissatisfaction was not only legitimate but Barbara gave him only part of the story. In 25 years of patronage to the Hilton brand in this case Hampton Inn 280, Birmingham; never have I been assigned a room that had no refrigerator or microwave. There’s no specification on the website nor when making reservations. You have to pay extra in reserving a suite to get those (REALLY!). Secondly, the wall sconce light on my wife’s side of the bed was not working. We know how dark Hampton rooms are already. Thirdly, when calling down to the front desk to voice our complaints we realized that the phone line had a short in it. The first two calls were disconnected. It appeared that the clerk hung up but we later found out the line had a short. I’m glad it wasn’t an emergency as they would’ve had a major liability. Mr. Muse promised to Address Barbara’s bad attitude and our concerns but we’ll see. For now I’m giving them a 1 with 5 being the best. If you’re expecting the normal good service and adequate rooms at this Hampton forget it!
The location is in a great place with scenic views over the mtn. A great place to stay. I particularly got a really nice room on the 3rd floor. The service was great, especially with the free coffee and complementary breakfast. #HamptonLove
Nice hotel, good location with a lot to do in the area- food & shopping. It's kind of set back in an odd spot, but other than that it was perfect. Very clean, breakfast was decent and the staff interactions I had were fine.
My room was quiet, comfortable and adequately spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable. The breakfast offered a great variety of foods and drinks. I'll go there again.
Large well lit parking. The rooms were not cleaned well. The bathroom was dirty, splatters on the mirror from previous guests brushing their teeth, at least I hope that's what that was. The maids were loud and yelling down the hall to each other and for two days completely ignored the "do not disturb" sign. The first day they actually walked into the room unannounced. Plenty of things to do near the hotel. Within walking distance of a theater, restaurants and shops.
Kinda cheap. Expected a little more from a Hampton hotel. Consierge was snippy, dust on beds, door had dent in frame and had trouble closing, and the final straw was no mini fridge. I've been to much cheaper priced hotels with better amenities. Oh and of course I can't forget the vending machine sized bag of chips for TWO DOLLARS!
Beautiful. Great staff. Very friendly atmosphere. Rooms are modern. Next to movie theaters and plenty of restaurants and shopping within a three minute walk.
Attended a day class there, the lobby was nice with plenty of comfortable seating. Conference room was a bit cramped with less comfortable seats. Staff was nice and kept us with plenty of hot coffee and cool water.
Very pleasant front desk attendant. Advised me on a great restaurant nearby. Great value and close to my work destination. Conveniently located next to a shopping area, Fresh market and Target. Nice rooms. Easy access to my car. Very quiet. I had a Good night's sleep. Lobby and restaurant seemed very nice too
“Our first trip to Birmingham”
The front desk staff was superior to none. The most polite accommodating staff we have encountered at any civilian hotel. They all need a raise! We arrived in Birmingham for a wedding during an ice blizzard and were forced to hole up for three days because of the weather. We were able to purchase some groceries on our way from..
