This location WAS so much better then Schaumburg, but it is CLOSED.
Love half priced books. Always a good selection and friendly staff.
I was very unhappy to hear about this, because they are/were one of the better Half Price Books stores, and at one point, when the shopping center had Whole Foods, T.J. Maxx, Sara Lee Foods, and many other stores in it, everyone was busy, and flourishing. When many of the stores closed, or moved to a different location, and stores didn't want to move in, it became a "ghost town." Luckily, I had prior warning of the closing, so I was able to go and buy MANY BAGS of books, albums, and CDs at very great prices, and told a few friends, who also lucked out.
This is a fun place to shop, but what a rip-off when it comes to selling them goods. We had 22 movie DVDs - some of them still sealed, an antique copy of Huckleberry Finn, several high class art books, a few brand new hardcover books published within the last year, and several other things about 40 items. We received a pathetic offer of $19.37 - next time I am going to give this stuff to charity and take a fair deduction! I do NOT recommend selling anything to these folks however, buying stuff here is a different matter.
Wide selection of books, records, and other media! Their (fairly unknown) book ordering service has saved me from spending a lot on my college textbooks. Great service and good prices!
The good: Fantastic selection of books, movies, TV shows. Generally nice and helpful staff.
The bad: Prices are too high. Have no illusions, prices here are not "half." Also, music selection is mediocre at best (if you are a metalhead like me, don't even bother looking here).
The ugly: Unless you want to be insulted, do not try and sell items to the store. Their offers are jokes. You might as well be paying them to take your stuff.
