I really like the place. However, the bed is creaky so of the person on the top moves, it can really bother the person below. The bathroom and showers are always clean, which is really nice! The place is surrounded by a strip mall and the beach. You can walk to Venice Beach or Santa Monica beach. There are many delicious places to eat nearby and pubs as well. The staff is nice and friendly. You have to bring your own lock though.
Neat, clean, well maintained with eagerly helpful staff like lovely Autumn and others. Overall great location, safe and g vibes. I will give it a 4*. Big Thank you to all the managent including the lovely and friendly cleaning staff. Wish you all the best. Will surely come back to this place whenever next in Santa Monica. Keep up the good work. Thank you all.
Located very centrally with walking distance to shopping areas, the beach, Santa Monica Pier, and others. Very good service, friendly staff, somewhat limited breakfast options. Bathrooms could have been cleaner. Limited storage space in the rooms. Overall a very good experience.
This place was AWESOME! Super clean, amazing staff, plus they offer free events every night. I did the pub crawl and I met people from all over the world. Super easy to make friends while staying in a hostel. These guys were great!
Was here for two nights while in Santa Monica area in LA. It is a good hostel for meeting new people (has good common areas, etc) but I think the rooms could be improved a bit. 10 people is a lot for one room and since it's all bunk beds, it would be nice to have a little corner with a sofa or something like that. For ~$50, can't complain though. Would come back if I was in a budget trip again considering it's a 5min walk from the pier, Mall, top restaurants.
Wonderfully acomodating, checked in two hours early no problem, good continental breakfast, very close to third street promenade and Santa Monica pier. Can’t go wrong staying here. very clean and affordable. I’ll be back again!
Shared a room with 5 other hikers. Simple bunk beds, but was to be expected for a hostel. The place was clean and inviting and two blocks from the beach. The morning breakfast was the only let down. It consisted of cereal and bread that you could toast. The bathrooms were large and the showers were hot. Towels are provided for the both the bathroom and to take to the beach. There are great social areas and organized events for visitors.
As my first time staying at a Hostel this was such a good experience, better than expected. The rooms are dorm style, twin bunk beds and probably about 6 to a room. You get a locker to lock your things away. Bring your own lock or purchase one at the front desk. The mattress beds are all covered with this handy plastic cover like thing that's surprisingly quiet. To be honest bed bugs were a big fear with me and this completely alleviated that fear. The hostel is kept quite clean and breakfast is provided daily ( bread, peanut butter, jelly, butter, bananas, Kellogg Corn Flakes, milk, Orange Juice & Coffee). The location is a block from the beach and super close to the Santa Monica Pier. With this being said, downtown Santa Monica has a very serious homelessness problem. I rarely stayed out past 10pm as there are a lot of mentally ill living on the streets surrounding the hostel, but as the area is very populated during the day it was never an issue. But overall, I will DEFINITELY return to this HI. I think
I may have higher expectations for all future US Hostel stays. Hopefully others won't disappoint.
Decent hostel. Location is amazing. The no alcohol rule is silly
Okay. Construction always going on either outside this place or now inside. They, also keep making the place more uncomfortable. For example they've removed almost all the electrical plugs from the common room. No place for phone or laptop except in room which is too uncomfortable to work freely. The breakfast has gone down as well. Staff okay still but limited. The beautiful courtyard has been decimated and no music or fountain like before.
Also these high tables in kitchen and downstairs inner lobby. In common room they used to have plush and super comfy seating. Now it's boxy and lousy. Why????
Excellent hostel. Large lockers and reasonable beds. Only bad thing is they need to check/maintain the bedside electric sockets. I am glad they were there but a fair few didn't work across our group but if they did then they would be 100% great hostel. There were other sockets so everyone got what they needed charged anyway.
This place was great, clean and centrally located. The staff were friendly and welcoming! I will happily stay again if I am in the area.
The location is great, but this hasn't been my favorite hostel that I've stayed at. It was very hot in my room, with only fans (no A/C). Shared showers and bathrooms that were usually pretty busy. The lockers in the rooms were very large though and I was able to put all my belongings inside. My favorite part about this hostel was the little outdoor area in the middle of it. Other than that, I'm not sure I'd come back.
I met a lot of really awesome hostel goers here. They have decent outings and events happening.
It was not the cleanest. The kitchen was clean and the eating area. But the bathrooms were pretty gnarly most of the time. Not ideal. Definitely bring your flip flops to shower.
Location location location. Cannot think of a better one. This place was great also because the hostel was well kept. Bunks were cleaner than expected. Bathrooms were not bad, could be improved especially the showers but for the location price and crowd, this was great! I will actually be coming back to stay again!
