Jamie was great to work with. She was able to pull up my floor plan and isolate the area that I needed new carpet installed in a couple minutes. The install team made it a seamless transition to the other flooring. Great team and very nice to work with!

We remodeled our 30 year old bathroom with a new shower and flooring from HJ Martin. I worked with Madison who was so helpful with design ideas and color schemes. She even helped with wall color! Our new shower was installed by Jason who was so good! He took the time to make everything perfect! He is a true craftsman! The flooring was installed by coating the old tile and applying Knight Tile. It was placed and then grouted so that it looks like new tile! We also opted for a Enduro Shield shower door, which is beautiful! We love everything about the finished product. It is just perfect! A big thank you to everyone at HJ Martin who made the project a success!

We worked with Bethany R. at HJ to remodel main level floors, laundry room and kitchen. Bethany R. was so helpful and patient with us as we navigated a remodel that we were unprepared for. Every time we made a design change or had second thoughts on tile or floor piece, she pulled samples for us to consider/compare and also gave us options that we might not have normally picked to help bring our vision together. I am grateful for her creativity and openness to our opinions and for also pushing us gently to "think outside the box" a bit.

I’m learning so much about conscious design from the H.J. Martin & Son team of Carly Paupore and Don VandenAvond in Sales and Design and Installer Greg Greatens. They are almost done replacing the carpeting in my new-to-me condo with tile. The project includes two bedroom/bathroom/closet suites, patio room and den.

About Carly: I already shopped for tile, and for the majority of my remodeling project I had my mind set on an expensive white-on-white textured tile. Carly took the time to show me that tile choice needs to be about more than just color. It’s also shape, grout color and width, and floor layout.

Yes, as other reviewers noted, price considerations also need to come into play. Carly is conscious of that. She spent time searching and found Palladium White tiles I like even better and they are far less expensive. That meant the same tile could create the perfect flow from the door of each bedroom, all the way through the bathrooms and walk-in closets.

Carly came up with the perfect muted navy/denim hexagon tile to tone down the brightness in the South/Southwest sunny patio room, and it too was reasonably priced. She also guided my choice for grout color. I was going to go with a pale silver grey, but she showed me how that could make the pattern jump out at me. I opted for a dark taupe grout that virtually disappears.

During the project, Carly stopped in to show me transition pieces that will go between the main room’s wood floor and all my tiled rooms. Meanwhile, she’s constantly out there scouting options for my future projects, ie., fireplace surround and a small stone bar height table. She truly enjoys helping people decorate.

About Don: As it turned out, we found ANTS!!! after removing the carpet. I don’t mind insects outside, but they must be stopped from coming inside. That’s where Don VandenAvond’s vast experience comes in handy. My condo is built on sand. So is his condo in the South. He suggested caulking every possible perimeter access. We’re not done yet, but it’s working already. You mention a problem to Don and you can see the gears in his brain going to work on a solution.

About Greg: The installation process is Greg’s bailiwick. He’s the best because he’s a perfectionist. He spends time planning and mapping the tile layout in each room so patterns line up pleasingly. We chose to get my sunny patio room done first, because I really wanted to get settled back in there ASAP. A plastic barrier at the room’s entrance helped keep dust down. We also wrapped the wood blinds in each room.

Greg also cleans up as he goes, which is so very helpful as I have a little pup who is everywhere sniffing and licking. In fact, he and my little Gizmo have developed quite a relationship. They greet each other every morning and bid each other good night at the end of the day. It’s important to me that Gizmo is not only tolerated but treated well.

We’re almost done with this round of remodeling and I’m so thrilled with H.J. Martin that I’m already planning the next phases — yes, plural phases.

We completed a major remodel including an entire new kitchen new flooring on first entire floor and completely new master bath that included a new tile shower. All work completed was done with a high level of quality and workmanship. Need to highlight the master shower as the attention to detail was second to none. It did take a few more days than planned but was worth it The passion that Greg put into the shower was more than we expected as he would give us updates daily and we could feel the passion in his progress reports and end result was amazing. Along with the workmanship was the incredible design help we received from Cali, as we described our vision and she put it into reality with colors and design that all worked incredible together being something we could have never done alone. Would highly recommend with no regrets on every aspect of the project concerning flooring, tile for shower and fireplace along with kitchen backsplash . All the design and colors flowed extremely well from one room to another. Very happy and will last us for years to come. Some photos are not entirely completed due to some supply issues.
