Bare bones fun! Had a great time at the acoustic performance by Josh Abbott and William Clark Green. Froze my buns off but once the crowd filed in and the music started it didn't matter much. 😀
Gruene Hall was a fun place to visit. Cool bit of history to boot. (pun intended) In spite of the commercial development this area still has a little of that old west feel to it. There are a lot of really nice shops to check out, as well as several great restaurants. I highly recommend the Gruene River Grill!
Love this place, a bit of a ride so we dont go weekly. I would be in trouble if it were closer. Service is always excellent as well as the food. I have taken many friends and family and they agree. They love it as well.
Gruene Hall is an AWESOME venue!! So many good acts come through here for an awesome price, you are bound to have a great time. They have happy hour alcohol, wine, and a great beer selection. CASH ONLY! Outdoor space is available as well as plenty of room inside. The parking lot right across the street is huge so parking is super easy and creates a stress-free trip. Plus, Gruene is a great place :-) you must see a show here!
It was super cute and fun environment. Cash only bar with beer and wine only. We went on a Friday night and got tickets for whoever was playing, and expected to dance at a "dance hall" but it was just the concert which was disappointing. But the music was awesome. Indoor and outdoor area. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff.
Very cool seeing the history of this great state and listening to some good music. I just really didn't like how unfriendly the bartender was to me. Some guy with a big mustache. I only got one drink and left bc of it.
This place should need no introduction, but you need to go once for the matinee show on the weekend. There you will see Texas culture in its purest form, unadulterated for cameras or tourists. The sound is incredible and you might think you have died and gone to heavenas we know, heaven is in Texas. ;)
Unbelievable authentic venue for standard old time country and Americana music. Particularly on Monday nights to see talented entertainer Bret Graham. Bret does everything from standard C&W classics to Elvis to his signature Jan Joplin impersonation. It's amazing and it's all FREE. The beer is cold and the music is hot. If you miss this you've missed the best of Central Texas and the Hill Country.
Recently visited Gruene, Texas for the first time, and my favorite spot I stumbled upon was this bar/dance hall/concert venue/overall great place. The walls are covered with pictures of country artists & singers & celebrities who've played their, or visited. Live music, good beer, and their patrons are friendly and welcoming. Loved it!
The character reflects Texas country state of mind. It oozes History and it is amazingly full of respect for Texas culrure. It is a must visit for anyone interested in dance hall perfection.
Nice atmosphere, love that they have police security, sound was on point. 4 stars because they need better drinks. If they can't sell liquor then at least serve southern sweet tea.
Historical place that everyone should experience. Really good artists performing all day and night at different times, check out their website. Roots of Texas at its finest. We love this place.
The oldest running dance halls in Texas and still does its job. This place is wonderful family and dog friendly, they will love the garden area out back. It's is awesome to hear boots on these old wood floors as you walk in. The bar in the front offers great drinks and you can always catch live music. I recommend you check their Calander to see who's playing and if there is a cover for that night.
Its the oldest dance hall in the great state of Texas, the feeling there is a nice kind of small and old and the sound of your boots walking across the floors is just addicting. This is also a place where a John Travolta movie has been filmed and the King, George Straight himself has played. Many other famous artists have too, but the local bands that come here really rock the place too. Its a great experience, highly recommended.
