This is a great restaurant for anyone who is looking for real homestyle Southern cooking. Food is priced fairly, and the atmosphere both inside and out makes it a real treat for the whole family. Rudy the Rooster waits to greet you in the parking lot.

Grits and Groceries is an unassuming spot at the corner of Nowhere and Middle in South Carolina. But when you walk inside, order your food, and taste ityou realize you might be at the fount of ambrosia itself! This food is GREAT. Worth the drive, worth the money, worth the time. Praline bacon, eggs Elizabeth, and stuffed French toast are not quite something for which I would die, but definitely would suffer much in order to taste. Go to Grits and Groceries! I'm on my way there right now with my wife, actually, and will probably branch out to try something new besides the aforementioned treasuresbut I'm def gettin' some of that praline bacon!

I've been to Grits & Groceries numerous times without fail of a great meal. Be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it. The first picture is of the shrimp and grits at lunchtime. Absolutely delicious. The praline bacon is thick cut with just enough sweetness. I'd give this restaurant two thumbs up, but I do think it is overpriced for the location.

Great food and super nice folks. Bring cash or check (no credit cards accepted). I was without cash and they just told me to send in the money later via IOU. Amazing to see that kind of trust in local businesses. I paid them and the check cleared within the week.

Grits and Groceries is located about 9-10 miles from the nearest town and does not accept credit cards so be sure to take cash .The service was friendly and food is basic fare served in a quaint country store atmosphere or under a shelter outside. The main dish was roast beef with rice and vegetables the day I was there. Good food but not exceptional. Strawberry Jam cake was chosen for dessert; it was moist, plentiful and SUPER sweet. Also purchased a fried apple pie to go for later in the evening. When I did eat the pie, I discarded the crust because it was too thick and lacked flavor and just ate some of the filling. I like to find local places, sometimes of the beaten path. Check it out once for yourself if you're into places like thisit's worth the stop anyway.

The outside and inside looks like an old country store which has its own appeal. The service and the food was great. When we arrived there was a line but we only had to wait about 15 min to be seated (they have indoor and outdoor seating). We will definitely be returning. This isn't your typical restaurant it is so much better.

This is a hidden little gem tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Make sure to make the trip to Grits & Grocery as it will not disappoint. Look for the giant rooster statue outside! The praline bacon is a must try as well as the fried apple pie. This is a little hideaway that is sure to make you want to return. Check the hours as they are limited and arrive early as normally it is a wait with a full parking lot. It is well worth a 2-3 hour drive even to check out this hidden little gem of a place. The owners bring a life-long love of home cooking to their restaurant and know how to please. You know it’s good when Food Network & Southern Living both have made visits.
