Went here for my boyfriends company holiday party. This restaurant is beautiful and had convenient valet service. We ate in a private function room upstairs. It was quite loud, but had a lovely ambiance. The food was AMAZING. I had the rib eye. It was perfectly cooked. Our table ordered sides of Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, asparagus and spinach. All phenomenal. Had the chocolate cake for dessert. To die for. 4 stars because the mixed drinks were inconsistent.
We had dinner here on Thanksgiving. The restaurant was very busy. Overall the experience was OK. The server was nice, but the overall service was very slow. By the time our order was taken, at least half an hour passed by. A few people in our party ordered the Thanksgiving special, while other enjoyed the typical steak meal that you would get at these types of restaurants.
If you come here, do yourself a favor and splurge a little. Get the Kobe Cap Steak, it was out of this world. I'm a big fan of steak and I haven't had anything that compares. In addition, other meals my party got were perfectly cooked, drinks were great and service was excellent. Not a cheap meal, but worth it if you are willing to spend the money.
Food: A+, Service A++. Wine selection is one of the best in all of Boston along with knowledgeable sommelier. Ambiance, A (sometimes a little loud during busy times but great building with historical past). Dining room management, FAILURE. The assistant manager Matthew Harrington is arrogant, narcissistic and lost in his own self-importance. His attitude is one where YOU the customer will play by his rules, you will take your table when he tells you, you will eat when he allows the kitchen to send your meal and has not a clue with regard to etiquette or the purpose of his position in the restaurant. WARNING WARNING. Avoid going here when Mr. Harrington is there.
An absolutely fantastic meal. Expensive, but certainly worth it. Great for any sort of celebratory meal. Incredible, attentive but not intrusive service. My second time coming here and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to order anything but the 100 day aged prime rib.
My wife and I went last night and my steak and service was great. My wife ordered swordfish that was over cooked (dry). My wife not a complainer relectantly had it taken back. The new piece was barely cooked. Seared on top but raw throughout. We did not want to make any other complaints so paid and left. Perhaps it was a bad piece of fish but certainly two attempts at cooking did not work .
If eating fish we probably would not go back.
An associate had brought me here and I was highly impressed. The staff were very friendly. The food was very greatly satisfying. They also have some very delicious unique deserts. The establishment is clean and well maintained. You can tell the owners care about their service.
We just went for appetizers and drinks. Very good food and great selection of wine. Atmosphere was nice but a table in the corner was very loud. It also took a very long time for the waiter to make his rounds. Waiting about a half hour for him to collect the check. All in all it was good.
We are big fans of dry aged steak, so we tried many restaurants that serve it. We must say that they had the BEST BEST BEST dry aged steaks. So flavorful, super soft, and amazingly juicy and delicious. We would love to come back to Boston just for this 100 day dry aged ribeye!
Beautiful steakhouse with a classy ambiance and service. The food was phenomenal - the seafood and chicken were incredible, the steaks were enormous and perfectly cooked, and the desserts were on point. Would highly recommend.
The salad though was strangely underwhelming. It consisted of a large serving of lettuce tossed with vinaigrette and tiny bits of goat cheese Very plain.
We celebrated New Years Eve with friends as we have done so for the past 5 years. Everything was great our server, Brian, was very attentive and very courteousalways around. The food was delicious as usual. BUT the musicwas just not conducive for the occasion. It was so very very loud we couldn't even have a conversation with our friends! The band never slowed the tempo of their music down even after we requested a few slow songs. We were disappointed since we have always enjoyed our time at Grill 23 on NYE..
Unbelievable.
The service was excellent.
The Food was excellent.
My steak, was cooked to perfection!
The chefs in that kitchen are some of the best I've seen.
A handful of them, pump out enough top quality food in a night, enough to feed a small town.
The place is massive.
The wine list is very impressive, all 60+ pages of it!
All I can say it's worth every penny.
If I could rate 100 stars I would.
Well done Grill 23 & Bar, well done indeed.
I'll be back soon, that's for sure!
