I don't know how anyone can eat one of these things. I could feel my arteries clog halfway through it. But obviously you don't go here for a healthy option. The 2 stars goes to the service. Sat at the bar and took the bartender 20-30min to help any customer. Also plates from the previous customer's layed stacked in front of us during the entire meal. Hell, we had to clean up the area ourselves. I fell bad for the bartender. He was doing his absolute best but no one was helping him. No bar back, no manager, nothing. But! The drinks he did pump out were amazing, so that's a saving grace. Can't imagine ever coming back, my stomach feels wrecked today.

Although Gourdough's is in my 'hood, I had only a vague concept of Gourdough's menu and had never visited. However, it was on "Edvard the Lithuanian" Recommended Places to Eat List. The atmosphere is that of a friendly, low-key neighborhood tavern. I tried the Country Clucker, crispy fried chicken breast, potato pancake, warm cream corn & candied jalapenos. After the first bite, I was ready to kiss the chef. I have a cast on one arm but the chicken was so tender I could slice it with one hand. VERY generous serving; would easily feed two. I plan to return and work my way through the entrees. Great outdoor seating.

I am definitely late to the Gourdough's party. This wad the first time I had visited, and I have to say, it beat my expectations. The food was great! The only thing I was off put by is the fact that they don't have a hostess, and it is every man for themself when it comes to getting a table. There really isn't a waiting area, so it's a little chaotic by the front door. Other than that it was fantastic and I would definitely go back.

I love Gourdoughs! Love their donut burgers, dessert donuts and all the quirky names. Everything on the menu in some way involves a donut. I do admit that it isn't for everyone though- I have taken many people here and most of them love it but some find it too heavy. My recommendation: if you've never been you gotta try at least a dessert donut (I think the black out is too much chocolate but every other one i have had is great and my favorite is Miss Shortcake)

First time here and I have to say I enjoyed it. Our server Terry was excellent, very attentive and fast...he had a friendly smile the whole time and kept our drinks full. He was great with the kids at our table which I appreciate. I wish they could come up with a small and simple kids menu though. Our food was delicious!

How many places can you get a dressed up hot donut late at night?! We got the Blackout and the Freebird. They were out of chocolate icing but it was still delicious with the cream cheese substitute. We sat outside on the patio where people had their dogs. Service was great and donuts are giant so we were able to have leftovers to take for later. So happy we found this place!

Amid the long wait for a table. We decided to go outside on patio. Ginger, the waitress, greeted us with a friendly smile and cleared another table for us so we could sit in the shade. Food took longer than usual but it was due to their volume and all the yummy they sprinkled on our food. Brunch specials were great. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

I get to see I love this please the people here are so helpful and ready to serve. The food here is delicious and they are definitely keeping Austin weird. There's always something to try and always something new. It's a great place to meet up with friends and make some new ones. The outside area is great to sit around enjoy nature and talk to people while you eat some delectable donut.

This is definitely a unique place and often described as one of the eateries that you must try when in Austin. The donut burger was definitely great but I think the place is hyped up too much.
The line was ridiculously long and the waiting time for food was the same as well. I would say it's one of the experiences that was nice to have but I don't think I'd go there again. Wait is just too long!
Unique food but not the best and not worth going frequently.

If you're reading this and considering whether to try this place, you definitely still should. It's a worthy experience to have. --4.25 stars

Although the food took long it was amazing! Sundays are super busy but in the end it was well worth the wait. Our bartender Ginger was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed and more. The only reason it was 4 out of 5 stars is there was no kids menu. I would recommend this place to anyone who's NOT counting calories. Don't plan on being productive after you eat here... Perfect for a cheat day!

The food here was excellent. Yes, they all have donuts. Yes, donuts will fill your soul and your pants. So come here in moderation and call it good. We came in a big group and the service was good.

It took 20 minutes to get seated which is normal but then it took 20 minutes to get water and to have our order taken. It then took about 45 to an hour to get our food. I ordered bottomless coffee but couldn't get my server to serve me more. In total I was at this restaurant for 2 hours. I'm late now to travel out of Austin. The food is good but this restaurant desperately needs to hire more servers. The experience is ruined when it takes so long and you have to get up to find your server. The staff kept apologizing to everyone for the 1 hour wait on the food so this is clearly a staffing issue. That said I feel that the wait for the food should be disclosed at the front of the restaurant when you ask for a table and ask about the wait time for a table.

The food is amazing, you really can't go wrong. The big cheese appetizer was one of the best things I ever put in my mouth. Be prepared for a long wait during busy times, but we were able to sit at the bar right away and have a spicy Bloody Mary while we waited for our food. Awesome vibe and a real Austin experience.

Chad was our server and he was fantastic, had good suggestions and was quite helpful and friendly. The food was great, we all got donut bun burgers. They took about 30 min after ordering to receive them. I ordered a drink from the bar and 15 minutes later was informed they were out of a component of my drink. 5 minutes later I got the modified drink. It took 25 minutes to get our dessert donut, which we ended up getting to go so we wouldn't have to wait any longer.
All in all, food and table service was great but the speed of the bar and kitchen was horrendous.
