Spent some time in their casino. Slot attendants and floor staff were very nice, polite and helpful. They appeared genuinely "happy", cheerful and were not hesitant in offering any assistance they could.

Make sure to get/pay for a "deluxe" room in the newer part of the hotel. Original rooms have quite the smoky smell, and are small (literally need to stand outside the bathroom door to pee if you're a guy). Deluxe rooms are clean, good size bedroom and huge bathroom. No restaurant onsite anymore; have to walk down to sister casino The D to redeem food vouchers. For the price, absolutely would stay here again (so long as there are deluxe rooms available).

The original rooms we had were horrible. We wanted to get away for the thanksgiving holiday so we booked 2 rooms here. If you stay in the old part of the hotel prepare to be disappointed/disgusted. It was 80 degrees in Vegas for the holiday and supposedly they turned on the heat for all the old rooms and the room controls for air do not work. Our room was almost 80 degrees at 3am. The front desk suggested that we open the windows and gave us a box fan which didn't help at all (which we had going since 5pm) The bathroom is super small which is fine but the walls to the shower look like they haven't been scrubbed since 1906 and when I complained about that the girl at the front desk said it's a "classic look". The front desk is obviously well prepared for all of these types of complaints because they have all the answers/prepared responses for everything and they seem to be good with handing out box fans for rooms. I was looking for a deal but this was not what we thought we were getting. Do not believe the pictures that they post, look at the customer ones and you will see. For the final night we upgraded (paid more) our 2 rooms to a deluxe room and a suite, now these are nice but of course you have to pay for them but it was either that or go to another hotel and pay additional resort fees.etc. I will never stay here again but if you decide to be sure it's a deluxe room or a suite, that's the new part of the hotel and you will have cleaner rooms with climate control. We also booked a 2 queen room originally and the front desk tried to act like they helped us out and moved us to a 2 bed room since thats what her "computer showed"

My home away from home in Las Vegas.
This historic hotel/casino at Number One Fremont Street has the coolest suites and consistently amazing employees. I should know: I stay here roughly every two to three weeks.
From the professional valets, to a welcoming desk staff; to efficient housekeeping; to great cashier cage and floor/gaming and cocktail staff--this establishment is filled with people who genuinely care about the customer experience.
The Stevens' should be proud of the growth this little gem has made and of the enjoyment the new games and beautiful extensions have brought to this end of the street.response / report this review -

Casino was the most fun environment of all those I visited in Vegas. I went to most on the strip and Fremont St. The dealers were having a great time. I lost some money and didn't even care because I was having such a great time. The drinks were fast and staff was happy to bring them. I only drink water and coffee by the way. Will stay at this hotel next time I'm in town. It's the oldest casino in Vegas!

So officially I was incredibly drunk when I was there. But I had a great time. Old Vegas is great - make an effort to go there whenever you're in town. Tons of stuff to look at and see. Cheap food and drinks!

I got very lucky sealing a deal here. I paid $23 a night for four days. Technically, it ended up being $40 a day considering there's an additional resort fee per day, but it was still the cheapest for the time we were there. Elsewhere would be charging for the same amount, if not more, anyways. I was a bit disappointed that there were no amenities though such as pool or gym, but what did I expect with that price.
The location is pretty awesome. It's on Fremont Street - a vibrant strip of artists, performers, and good food.
Our room is really small but it was next to Fremont Street that has shows from 6 pm to 2 am. We got free music/show from our bedroom window.
The staff in the lobby was very nice to us, from when we checked in to when we checked out. It was also really fast too. One thing though, for those four days, we've never received housekeeping.
Overall, in Vegas, my goal is to try food, watch shows, and gamble a little so where I sleep is not where I'd put all my gold in. So if you also think this way, this hotel would be a good fit for you.response / report this review -

The original Golden Gate Casino and Hotel. I have been here many times and the property has only gotten better, one expansion at a time. The hotel has its classic rooms and Suites. For those seeking the classic Vegas feeling I recommend the old rooms over looking Fremont Street. Those who want the modern feel, get the newer suite room off of Fremont. What makes this place great is the atmosphere, it's special. Hopefully, the next expansion this year is great, the shrimp cocktail returns, and a replacement for Dupar's is found. Check out the Golden Gate!

Have enjoyed the Golden Gate the last 50 Years The hotel is quaint because it's an historic building. But the staff is outstanding. The casino has changed it's vibe to join the 21st Century. Do I enjoy the Techno music? Heck no but then I'm old!!! But I enjoy staying in the hotel & playing with my earplugs in Ha Ha Ha!!! Looking forward to seeing the Famous Shrimp Cocktail return

Looks to be one of the long time casinos from Las Vegas' older times. I only went to the casino. The gaming floor was a little small. Nice professional and polite staff. Nice place to try but very different from the newer casinos.

Downtown Vegas!! We had fun playing there, blackjack and craps. Blackjack dealer was really nice, took his time and made it fun. Craps table was great, the men working really added to the experience. Joshe was great!!

Awful! No class. Loud - really loud. Cigarettes every where! And servers wear less clothing than the "20's" , too much make-up Prostitutes? We left the next morning as soon as car arrived from Hawaii.
Couldn't pay us to stay there. Go back to The Luxor or Mandalay Bay. Still waiting on refund for one awful night versus a week!!! Had to leave Yep That bad!response / report this review -

Very nice casino that goes way back in Las Vegas history. Small and filled to the brim with slot machines table games and bars. The cocktail waitress' move pretty quick and come around often. Parking can be a bit difficult since it is downtown and very crowded so my advice is go on a weekday for the best experience.

We went to downtown Las Vegas to walk around and play some tabke games as well as listen to music. Outside the golden gate they have a bar and a stage on Fremont that is amazing. Then inside they have a good selection of table games and slots. The dealers are very nice and most games are $5 minimums.
