They have a very nice atmosphere, seem to be slowly renovating portions of the casino. I love the gold coast over the Palms Casino because they are more cozy. I live one Street behind the gold coast and I go there for entertainment as well as meals. They're very fairly priced overall. :)
My party and I dined at Ping Pang Pong. We were lucky that the wait was nil and we're quickly seated. The initial wait to order food was extremely long, timed about 12 minutes before we were asked about drinks. The food was great and we had one issue with a dish and it was quickly resolved by the server and manager. The manger was fantastic and we would return just for that. A place to recommend to eat.
Can't beat the buffet here! We had the breakfast buffet which was "good" food at only $8 with a players card. They had a good variety of food with most of your usual breakfast items including omelet and waffles. Not too busy either. As far as the casino goes, it's very smokey and outdated. I'd say it's equivalent to your typical fremont casinos. Service is very good and friendly from staff. Drinks are cheap. 1st floor parking is usually very tough to find a spot. Overall, a great value hotel if you're not looking to spend too much money.
Good locals casino. Machines are spaced nicely so you don't have to squeeze your way through the casino. Not as smokey as other casinos, which is good. I saw a few people winning, but we didn't. Didn't lose much, which is a good thing. Not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. They have a few nice dining options including a TGI Fridays and a decent coffee kiosk. There's a Subway shop if you want a quick bite. It would be nice if they had a few more options for quick dining since I'm not a Subway fan.
The atmosphere is nice and not too loud. It's an older property, but I like it for the old school vibe.
There was one guy who kept winning on a Buffalo machine and he looked a little shady, kept cashing out and then putting in more money. I was hoping he'd leave so I could get a shot at the machine but he and his pals stayed there all day.
Described by the locals as a "Locals Casino" The staff were amazingly friendly. The rooms were perfectly sized, neat, and up to date. Free shuttle to The Strip. An amazing 70 lane bowling alley upstairs, and (I heard) great bingo as well. And the rate could not be beat. I'd go back.
Great value hotel near the strip. Staff were friendly. The casino was good. I liked the fact that the pool was open until 9pm which is later than most hotels in the area. Jacuzzi was nice. The room was spacious. One thing I disliked was that there was no shower door nor curtain! So of course a bunch of water poured outside the shower area in front of the toilet and sink area as I showered!
There are highs and lows. Some.of the areas look worn ans then some of the restaurants are like from high end hotels. Staff is super friendly as are patrons. It has cool budget friendly things like fast food places and little super market liquor store. Good place.
Ate at Ping Pang Pong's - always the best dim sum in Vegas. Before this visit the restaurant was in a shabby location in hotel, now it's in a really nice renovated area with 3 times the seating! Which is great because it really reduces the wait time. Food still as good!
My experience at the gold coast was excellent. I can't say anything bad about the gold coast. The service was 100%. The food, I ate 3 times a day at the buffet.when I left that table I was satisfied with everything I ate. The food was so good. The hotel room was awesome, clean nice size bed and bathroom. On this trip to vegas staying at the gold coast was the right choice.
The casino is dated but in fairness that is part of its appeal and theme. It still needs to be updated though. It is off the strip so the surrounding areas are clean but the interior is dirty. Although the floor color is dark you can still see and tell how dirty it is. The buffet is actually petty good (quality/taste) with a nice variety of foods. The price is comparable to all the other casinos. TGIF is a bit overpriced especially compared to the amount of food you get and all dishes are salty every time we go there. They seem to like to smother things in butter also. Everything from steak, vegetables, to the appetizers. We've gotten plain vegetables several times and every time they were lying in a pool of butter. Overall it's an ok casino but needs updating and a good cleaning.
Good place to get that Las Vegas feel without the massive crowds. Just walk across the street over to "Rio" or "The Palms" for a younger, louder crowd. Plenty of slots, about half being video poker. There's also a Friday's, Subway, Starbucks and a few other places to grab a bite. And a buffet too, The Ports o' Call, with 6-7 different ethnic themes, i.e., American, Italian, Mongolian, Chinese, etc. Not gourmet but more than half way decent.
Love their food, the bowling alley is great for my kids, drink prices are okay. I buy liquor in their little store and get a generous discount for simply having a loyalty card. The coffee shop and the Subway shop are my favorites for snacks and the TGIFridays rocks. They're always clean and smell great. My only complaint is about their cashier cage. I used to run a chain of check cashing stores in NYC and the gold coast has much to learn about those procedures. I am currently a Casino manager and the gold coast has much to modify with regards to how they treat customers. I began using the Palms for most of my monetary/recreational needs just under a year ago, since the quality of the hospitality at the gold coast cage has declined so terribly.
Came at 12 cause my parents wanted to Gamble here. Floor attendees were helpful when we asked them where we could open up a member card. Quiet atmosphere because it was Sunday morning in a off strip casino. Parents won some money so they would want to come back during future visits.
Really good buffet, normal gambling machines (but some of the a little bit old). Actually not really crowed hotel. Condition of staying equal for a price)
Some time in buffet you can meet to much friendly stuff and some time stuff with strange humor. Food is okay, not 5 stars because have a lot of sing for improvement.
