Very tasty and great portions. You can't go wrong with their combination platters because every item is delicious. More than enough enjera. Reasonable drink menu
The ethiopian food at Ghenet runs a little bit more expensive than other places I have been to and has smaller portions. That being said, the quality of ingredients was higher than usual and the restaurant has a lovely date-night feel with dimmed lights and cozy corner booths. We ordered the veggie and meat combination and all of the classics were there. Additionally we had cocktails which were nothing special but still tasty.
Favorite place in Brooklyn for Ethiopian, friendly staff, great menu - if beer is your thing, try the St George varieties.
Nice place.. food was good. Must try is the Honey Wine (they will get you some to taste n you can decide) it is sweet. We had the platters to share which were good portion size (4 shared 1 platter) and for the appetizer we had the sambusa(with beef..you can select this) was small portion size for an appetizer although tasted good. They are somewhat priceynice place to experience Ethiopian food though.
They don't seat you until everyone arrives. There's another room in the back with more seatings. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it was an unique experience. The four of us shared a 3 person meat combo and an appetizer. Very flavorful. Minus one star because we asked for water 3x and never got it.
Great tastes, spices and textures. Super filling. Service was a bit lackluster, but for a first time Ethiopian culinary excursion, enjoyable! Had the Beg Tibs (spicy beef) and Misir Wett (Spicy Lentil).
Service is trash. The ladies that were working tonight blatantly ignored me and my friend multiple times as we were waiting for a table. We were waiting patiently and politely for over an hour and they spoke to us like we were being a nuisance. They seated at least 3 other parties before us that walked in (no reservation) after us. This is not the first time I have been disrespected by the red haired woman that works at this restaurant for simply breathing in that establishment. I let my previous bad experience slide because I understand we all have our days, but what they did tonight is intolerable. Never again will I step in there. Please don't visit this place. Don't support trash ppl and trash service.
We love this little restaurant. The food is amazing in a great atmosphere. This is a must try place in Brooklyn. I have failed to find another place that encompasses the experience of eating ethnic food the way they do.
Very good food! Staff is incredibly friendly. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Nice decor and good music on the speakers. Go check it out!
The food is hands down delicious! Service really intimate and attentive. I've eaten here quite a few times for birthday dinner celebrations. It's great communal eating and sharing. I lived in Ethiopia for a year and I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional dishes. I even learned how to cook a few of them. Ghenet which means 'Paradise' offers very flavorful traditional Ethiopian dishes. Well worth the visit
Inevitably so, Ghenet is the only Ethiopian restaurant in NYC i find that the Injera bread never disappoints. Why is that? so good!
We were excited to try Ghenet. The restaurant appeared to be under staffed, it is likely there was only one waiter for the two dining rooms. When we arrived, we waited at the bar for ten minutes for staff to see if there was a table available. After being seated, we waited thirty minutes for the waiter to take our order and bring us water. Our food was brought to us forty minutes later and was altogether underwhelming. It took thirty minutes after we were done eating for us to get the attention of the waiter for our check. I like Ethiopian food, but Ghenet's service could not overcome it's average food. I do not recommend Ghenet and will not return.
Ghenet is our go-to Ethiopian restaurant. Their combo platters are great for groups. If you have 4 or more people you can basically get some everything. The vegetarian options are equally awesome. Their injera is not super sour which is nice for people who are new to Ethiopian food.
We absolutely love Ghenet! It's one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in NYC; the food is fantastic and the service phenomenal. If you haven't been, run, don't walk there - you won't regret it!
Very unique menu that still stays true to the essence of Ethiopian food. Very pleasant ambiance and widest variety of Ethiopian dishes served by friendly staff that give the place a family-friendly feel. This is, hands down, the best Ethiopian restaurant I have been to outside of Ethiopia.
