I attended this University for fresham year. It was an amazing experience and i loved the school. I transfered because of a major, but if i had the choice, i would def stay here!

Nice school,campus, and education but cops there are strict and so are the bars. 100% you'll get arrested there for something dumb. Great party school there though most people know how to balance social life and school.

I've seen why people say this. From a student perspective, GSU is where Georgians who don't get into their first 5 choices of schoolswind up.
As for the professors, it's where people with degrees from no-name schools go to act like they're "in academia." Lazy, angry, and full of contempt for their students - especially the black ones, but only a Wikileaks of GSU will reveal that! - the GSU professors moan about the heat, the bugs, the humidity, the pay, each other, and their situation at GSU. Oh, and they're all white. What a clusterf#&^ of a teaching and administrative staff, mostly holdovers from when GSU had 5,000 students in the '80s. Now, with over 20,000, the profs act like they're at a major institution, but it's really just bloat and demographics. GSU gives tenure to people who are routinely laughed out of other schools, people with self-published books and a gift for self-promotion. Or a relative at GSU. That's a great way to get tenure! When your uncle/dad/mama, etc already work at GSU. Or your buddy does.
But the rent is pretty cheap in Statesboro, so there's that. And it's driving distance to Atlanta, so there's that. Good luck. You will need it at GSU.response / report this review -

Fantastic school, but the complete and total lack of culture and activity off campus is a huge negative.
Statesboro is small and lacking for such a large school. The only thing to do outside of school is drink and party, which is definitely not for everyone.response / report this review -
