Delicious pastries and food! My family loves going here for the atmosphere and pure deliciousness! It can be very busy at times, bit it is well worth the wait! Best croissant in town!!
Good bakery. Organized serivce. A little snooty and unwelcoming, see picture. Over priced. Parking can be a pain in the back lot. Perfect for rich Santa Cruz folks.
Always full of people, not good if you don't like crowds. Is a very popular place meeting up with friends. The baked goods are very unique to the place. It is really hard to find the lines, the bakery runs off of a take a number serving system. They have a little buffet of hot foods to choose from as well as pastries. A good place to go with friends.
Great for baked goods, snacks and tasty meals. Been coming here since the late 1970s and watched Gayle's grow from a tiny pastry shop to the full service eatery/takeout icon they now are. While there's no outside eating anymore, the enclosed patio with fireplace works great. especially at night and during cool, wet weather.
Greatest bakery ever. They have every kind of cooked food for lunch. This includes hot food as well as sandwiches. The cookies, cakes and bakery goods are next to none. I could eat every meal at this place. It is a bit pricey, however, you get very good food. Can't recommend this place enough. You will love It!
Awesome! Fast service with great food-even gluten free cookies. This place is just shy of a full market. It's a must stop for everyone- locals, tourist, visitors, and out-of-towners. The list is endless with cookies, cakes, bread, sandwiches, salads, and etc. the pictures gives it more justice. Parking is tough after 10am but the service inside is fast.
Didn't know much about Gayle's other than "it was supposed to be really good." Well it wasn't just good, it was bomb! I could tell this place had to be special just based on how crowded and chaotic it was inside, which was actually part of the fun. Make sure to grab a number when you go in and try not to crowd in front of the display cases, otherwise people who are trying to order can't get to what they want to see. I didn't have any baked goods on my first visit, but I did try a breakfast croissant sandwich as well as a lunch sandwich. Both were beyond delicious and I can't wait to go back to try more goodies. Everything looks amazing!
Have not been disappointed, other than the wait. You may pay a bit more here, but you get the value. Have had many Blue Plate Specials, and each and every one is remarkably tasty and well balance. Love the peanut butter cookies, eclairs, and the Ficelle Sandwiches, plus the French Loaf.
Try it, you may like it! And prepare to stand in line..
I love their coffee. It's a custom blend just for Gayle's by Verve. It can get busy, you need a ticket to be served. Their cakes and pastries are just okay, I liked Heather's better before they went out of business. Their savory food is the reason I come here. They also have a solid day old section if you're there early enough.
Great food and efficient service. I really like the way the place is laid out. Their sandwiches and baked goods are both delicious
Fast efficient service. Went for lunch. Not the friendiest but very quick during the rush.Good food, but the bread not so much. Good coffee and convenient place to get pastries. Cute and quaint decor, reasonably clean dining areas including a patio with lots of space for groups.
Overall, the food is delicious. The sandwiches we grabbed for the road were test, and we we impressed with the quality of the pastries, especially the cowboy cookies. However, the prices were poorly marked in some things and therefore we ended up accidentally buying a small pack of biscottis for more than $20! The other downside was the noise and crowd, but there's only so much to be done when everyone in town wants to grab one of the many yummy treats!
I love Gayles! They have a great coffee area and tons of delicious foods and baked goods to choose from. I highly recommend there cowboy cookies and the key lime cups! I only gave 4 stars cause it can be a little expensive.
THE KEY LIME PIE!!! Holy cow it's literally as good as it looks. The key lime is perfectly light and not to sugary topped with thick whipped cream. It's killer. Also loved the cowboy cookies with chocolate chips and coconut. Will be returning for the Princess cake which is apparently legendary.
