Drew the sales guy was awesome easy going very informative very helpful great experience all around we will definitely be back for our next new vehicle
Let me start by saying that any dealership has but ONE opportunity to earn my 5-star rating. Merely completing a business transaction successfully doesn't get you 5-stars, which is reserved for the truly elite (fyi, this is much how Toyota North America has set up the employee rating / review process). If everyone passes out 5-stars like candy, how are we to truly distinguish between merely decent service and truly exceptional service? See my rating scale below.
My rating scale:
1-star = you totally screwed the pooch on this deal (see my review of LaFontaine Toyota)
2-stars = you managed to get it done with excessive hand-holding or other errors.
3-stars = you executed a business transaction satisfactorily.
4-stars = Great job, you earned my business.
5-stars = You hit it out of the park. You worked hard to earn my business and did everything right the first time. You truly exceeded my expectations.
Gates Toyota had previously earned my business from their service department. They proved themselves to be competent and caring. I am happy to report I had the same experience on the sales floor at Gates. I truly hit the automotive trifecta at Gates: Exceptional trade-in, exceptional new vehicle discount, and 0% financing (note that Gates does not control the interest rate, this is thanks to an opportunity from Toyota and a good credit score). Gates Toyota can thank sales person Drew Ummel for earning the 5th star. It was a somewhat complicated venture with a few twists and turns that took some back-and-forth negotiating, and Drew did a fantastic job pulling the 2 sides together. I would also like to give props to Tony, the sales manager as well as Ryan in the finance department. Both are true professionals with a personal touch.
In spite of being a relatively new automotive sales person, Drew exemplifies the best of the best with his balance of professionalism, product knowledge, and personal interaction with his customers. It was a privilege to be Drew's customer. Other sales professionals would do well to emulate his sales manner, and other dealerships would do well to emulate all aspects of Gates Toyota. Take note: this is how it's done.
Their customer service is superb. Great car service. Great people.
I've not had to purchase a car through a dealership in over 15yrs and finally had to about a few weeks ago. I was very hesitant and afraid to be taken advantage of because it had been so long since going through an actual dealership. And with all the cars these days loaded with touch screen this and that I admit I was not "with the times". After doing research and reviews of local car dealerships and visiting many of them I landed on this one to try. I was pleasantly surprised with their high level of customer service and knowledgeable staff. Jason who was a referral from a coworker was beyond informative, friendly, willing to work with folks that have not so great credit and are trying to build it, made me feel welcome, presented me with REALISTIC options based on my income and credit and didn't make me feel pushed in to buying something I wouldn't be able to afford and thus setting me up to fail in the long run. I would recommend them to anyone. Go see Jason! 😃 👍👌👏
They earned my business on price alone. The '18 Camry XLE was ready to pick up one hour after I accepted their quote. The paperwork was quick, and everyone friendly.
As a delivery driver / manager my ride is important to me. These guys and the Granger location have been life savers always taking good care of both my vehicles and making sure what needs attention now and in the future are taken care of.
Note: I purchased my car during their "big sale" event. The car I purchased was actually from Gates Chevy in Mishawaka, but it was at the Ireland Road Toyota Location during the sale.
This was the worst car buying experience I've ever had.
- I gave them my budget and suggested some cars, and he comes back with a car that looks way out of my budget. I asked him how much it was and he said he didn't even know, but he wanted me to test drive it.
- They kept giving me est. monthly payments, but when I asked what the interest rate was he didn't know. I had to figure it out on my own because they refused to give me an actual number.
-They made several promises that they did not keep concerning interest rates, monthly payments, financing, and others.
- I was promised a monthly payment, and then when it came to signing papers the payment was $70/mo more than what they said. They didn't even tell me what it was they just asked me to sign the paper. When I asked them about it they said it was for the warranty, but I never told them I wanted it they just threw it on my paper work. It took 45 mins for me to get them to take it off because they just kept trying to convince me of the value.
- I gave them all of the documents they requested, but then they harassed me for the next week asking for more documents that they forgot to ask me for the first time. Some of the documents they needed I had already given them but they ask for it again. They were very patronizing on the phone when I tried to explain it would be a couple days before I could get them to documents since I was out of town for work, but they weren't willing to wait at all they demanded to have them immediately.
- They promised me that they could get my wife on the financing even though she was out of town, but then after doing 90% of the paperwork they told me they couldn't get her on there anymore and expected me to just be happy about that, suggesting I refinance in a COUPLE YEARS to get her on there
- They promised me that I could get a certain interest rate at the beginning, but after doing a big chunk of the paperwork they come back with a rate that is almost 3% higher than what I was promised.
My wife and I purchased our minivan from Gates. We were treated extremely well and given a fair market price on the vehicle. No high pressure and no sales tactics.
The repair facilities are just as accommodating as the stores. They do their best to keep you informed and make sure the repair(s) are correct. You are treated with respect, not like Alan Jackson's "Talkin' song repair blues".
Just purchased a new car from Gates Toyota with Coach as our salesman. He was very good and did not pressure which was nice. I would recommend him to anybody no I will say there detailers that are supposed to clean the cars are awful. We still had chocolate and all kinds of junk inside cracks and crevices of the car I would have said something but I know I would be wasting my breath. But if you do buy a car from them see coach I would not deal with any of the younger guys because they could care less about customer service.
We have always had excellent service and treatment at Gates. We have bought 3 used Prius cars from them and have been very happy with them all. Tony Harrington is great and does his best to help you. I feel that we can trust them and they charge less than other dealers to fix things.
I would definitely recommend that anyone buying a car from gates, buy it from Missy. She was an amazing salesperson and made sure I knew exactly what i was getting myself into and made me feel comfortable during the entire process.
CUSTOMER-CENTERED. SVC TEAM ALWAYS SEEKING COMPLETE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. COURTESY & SERVICE ALWAYS OUTSTANDING.
We had an amazing experience buying our new Tacoma from Gates Toyota! This was our second time buying from Gates, and we will be lifelong customers. The entire staff was so friendly made the car buying experience fun. Steve spent lots of time showing us all of the truck's features, and Landon in finance was awesome. We recommend Gates Toyota to all of our friends and family!
