It is not fancy but it is walking distance to the plaza and it has the santa fe bite on it. Pretty good.
First room we had, the door lock didn't work. Could open door by just turning handle. Second room we got, had large stains all over the carper, and outside the bedroom window was trash mounds, beer bottles and bum piss. Wife and I decided to leave and go elsewhere. tried to get a refund but they refused because I peed in the toilet. Really?
Don't waste your time here. Rooms are very dated and falling apart and they don't seem to care. House keeping doesn't seem to do a good job either. Felt so dirty there we had to leave.
Don't believe the pics you see on Expedia and such showing rooms/amenities. They don't even come close to how run down these rooms are. Must have been taken years ago. I have no idea how anyone can give this hotel anything greater than 1 star. My wife and I were floored at what reviews said when we booked, and reality when we checked in.
Toilet clogged the first night we got there. Shower did not drain well so you stand in dirty bath water taking a shower. Very outdated. Plus, is that your socks away from the square and walking distance to everything. Beds were comfy. Housekeeping was very nice. Santa fe bite inside motel was absolutely delicious!!
Had the green Chile cheeseburger at Santa Fe Bites within the inn. WOW. Locally raised beef freshly ground into a thick 10oz patty makes for an incredibly savory and delicious burger. Top that with their green chile and you get one of the best burgers I've ever had! Had it two days in a row when I was here. :)
Very dated but clean as can be for the age. Carpet was a bit sketchy but when is is it not. It did take a long time to bring room up to a comfortable temperature. Price was good for the location. I would stay here again do to the room rate.
Dirty, outdated rooms. Bedding and towels very worn out. Amenities make it a 2 star hotel but its like a Super 8. No breakfast, and you have to pay for parking.
I had stayed here before a few years ago and I still really like this place. The rooms are large and the bathroom is set away from the rest of the room with a wall and a vanity. It is also very close to the downtown square.
The location is perfect! It seems to be in the center of everything in Santa Fe so it makes traveling very easy. The room is ok, a little run down and the A.C. didn't work, but it was very cozy. The service was very nice, and the housekeeping did an excellent job cleaning up.
We love that everything was so close. We had a great time experiencing N.M. as for our stay, my husband is so upset that I paid $305 For 2 nights. Our room had 2 full beds. He was upset we didn't get a continental breakfast, no microwave, or fridge plus we had to pay for parking at our stay. That really upset him. As for location. It's very peaceful. I wasn't worried about anything. They were pretty clean.
This is a real blast from the past. Our room was comfortable but spartan. Garrett's has been a fixture in Santa Fe for many years, and it has always been the affordable place to stay, close to the Plaza. Sadly, that will soon change. It's been sold and the new owners are rumored to be planning to demolish it and build something much pricier. It's too bad! If you don't mind 1960's decor and architecture, stay here and save a hundred dollars a night. The attached restaurants, Santa Fe Bite, is the descendant of Bobcat Bite, a favorite for many years. The coffee served in Santa Fe Bite is some of the best you'll ever have. . . . it is a passion of the restaurant owner.
Close to plaza which explains the high price for this out-dated motel. Clean rooms but everything is old. Old box tv with static and hard beds. Would give it 3 stars because of location but we stayed there on Saturday night and 4 cop cars finally responded at 3 am to a party taking place in several rooms near ours. I talked to the front desk person in the morning and although they were very understanding and had recieved numerous complaints they would not give a discount for that night. Lesson learned. Pay a little more and stay at a nicer hotel on the plaza. The price isn't worth the risk of staying on the plaza and having a miserable weekend getaway with no compensation. Also you are charged for parking which is also available for non guests. Stay somewhere else and pay $8 to park and shop the plaza.
Cool place but very dated. Clean rooms and super close to the Plaza and many other attractions all within walking distance
Be careful when booking even directly with this hotel as you might actually be booking through Expedia. Even a three month timely cancellation can result in a fee being charged to your credit card. Management couldn't care less.
My husband and I went for dinner in the restaurant. There food was really tasty but there service was a little slow. They weren't very busy when we came in but it got busy while we were there so that was part of the reason why the service was slow.
A nice stay. They were reasonable on the price for two nights. A bit of a vintage hotel with a large parking lot court yard type configuration. Basically the hotel surrounds the parking lot. Our room was clean, and quiet. Their laundry area is good. Friendly people. I booked here a second time without realizing. So I have stayed here twice on two different trips. I would stay again.
