I enjoy staying at the Fairplay Valiton hotel for it's historic charm however I wish the mattresses were better quality. They are not forgiving. Also, I wish the hotel had an actual restaurant. The bar/restaurant is leased out to a different party and unfortunately the bar owner just serves frozen food.

The price couldn't be beat. The atmosphere is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, but sometimes difficult to get in touch with. The rooms aren't kept in as tip-top condition as I would normally prefer, and some amenities are lacking. All in all a positive experience.

People here are awesome. We are travelling with 2 dogs and the BOOKING agency failed to pass that little bit of vital information on to the staff here so we ended up in a no pet room. The staff here have been stellar though. They completely understand that we weren't responsible and are allowing the dogs to stay in the room with us.

The rooms are also incredible with antique furniture and original architecture. I will definately be staying here again but will reserve a room directly instead of trusting an third party.

Open mic was fun. Some really talented folks. Room was clean with the old-fashioned style you expect from an intimate, family-owned hotel in a small-town.

Super town, great food, wonderful locals, historical setting. This hotel was booked and a local offered up his home to 5 bikers from Indiana, for the night. He didn't know any of us and wouldn't take any money. He spent the night at his girlfriend's house because he was turning 50 yrs old that day. He let us use his washer/dryer, coffee pot, and shower. We left all of our phone numbers and told him if he were ever in Indiana he had plenty of places to stay. I wish I knew whom this angel was, I am going back to this place soon.

A charming old hotel in a tiny mountain town with stunning views. The rooms are quaint, clean and comfortable. You can easily imagine the miners stopping for a quick stay back in the 1890's.

The bar & grille downstairs is hopping on Friday nights and their food is good (the pizza won't disappoint). The staff is friendly.

Be sure to check out the historic South Park ghost town right down the block.

Very unique setting definitely one of the older cooler hotels. The rooms were very spacious, and the beds were comfortable. I give this hotel 4 stars because the room was pretty hot with no a.c.. They have a nice little bar and diner right on the first floor, which has a pool table and decent food. Overall good hotel, as well as very pet friendly.

Great experience. The room was great, and the saloon/dining hall was a blast! Only downside was that breakfast was poorly coordinated.

The price is good, and they were able to work us in last minute. The staff is a bit surly. There's no fridge or microwave in your room, and the TV is probably about twenty years old. It still works, and you still get cable, which is nice. There's no maid service while you stay and we even found a mouse in our room the night before we left. But if you're looking for a hotel that is certifiably haunted ( I'm not kidding, there's actually a certificate in the lobby stating that very fact, though I never had any experience) it's there. Though I probably won't stay in the hotel again, the food was good. I think it will due in a pinch. And it is affordable, like I said.

Great place to stay. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. The place has a very different feel from usual hotels. Its a rich old classy look and they have artwork all around the place. Very helpful front desk guy and he has an awesome playful dog:) . The only drawback one might find is that the beds are old style metal frame. But overall it is a nice place to relax in FairPlay.
