Had a great time with my wife. 45 year anniversary. Thanks .The Inn was very nice, clean and comfortable. The golf course was very nice. Beautiful and Challenging course. Beautiful and well kept holes. I enjoyed that every hole was secluded. Carts were in great condition. Staff was friendly. Will return.

Played Dunmaglas August 17, 2017. Read all the reviews beforehand and was apprehensive due to those who complained about awful course conditions. Is it in impeccable shape? No. But is it a beautiful (breathtakingly at times), unique, challenging and worthwhile course? Absolutely! Again, though the conditions were not pristine, they were by no means bad, much less unplayable. The prevailing feeling I had while playing was that with more money and TLC, this was a great course that could be elevated to the ranks of world class. Hopefully that day arrives. For the time being, however, it's still tons of fun and a tremendous challenge -- and outstanding for photos.

One other note: I was able to snag a great deal via GolfNow to play all 18 for $55 (during peak season on a Monday). At that price, I felt I absolutely received full value for my money.

Very disappointed in this place. Hadn't played it in over 20 years so I was really looking forward to playing there. Went with an 8 man outing over the weekend and to a man, we were shocked at how poor the condition of the course was. This is NOT a $99/man course, by any stretch. We spent $800!!! Tee boxes were filled with clover and hadn't been cut in what looked like several days. Parts of course were watered while others were rock hard. Greens were spongy. And the facilities were not very good at all. Driving range is extremely poor. Putting green was ok. Just an overall poor experience for the 8 of us. They really need to address the course conditions if they want people to play there. Especially for the price. Would not go back here unless changes were made.

Well the layout and views are not bad , the course charges 100 bucks for the round that is where the disappointed lies , ground under repair not marked out, stone traps , generic tee boxes definitely not worth the money as it pertains to certain aspects. I played little traverse bay and and was charged 40 dollars and that course represented itself as a 100 dollar a round course then Chestnut valley 60 bucks both courses represented an excellent deal

I played here on a Friday in early June and found the course to be in pretty good shape overall. We were warned of animal damage as well, but that only seemed to be on about 4 holes.

I am not sure what Mr. Catt saw that we didn't, but it appears we were there about the same time. I am about as picky as it gets when I review courses, and the overall conditions (minus the animal problem) were NOT even close to as bad as I am reading.

The course is noticeably better than it was back in 2012.

We will be making a return trip next year.

This is one of the great courses anywhere. I started playing it the year it opened and even though I now live over 2000 miles away, I try to figure how to get to Charlevoix at least every other year primarily to play Dunmaglas. I've played in FL, AZ, NC and CA and Dunmaglas is still one of the best. If you are over say a 12-14 handicap, it will be a real challenge--but play it anyway just for the experience. The designer used a huge amount of acres and there are no houses on the course!! Great visuals, great concepts. It is one of the best.
