Very cute little brunch place with a house turned into a restaurant. Tasty food and excellent service and even had many vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend!!
This is a great restaurant. I've had breakfast and lunches there on different trips to Marquette. The food is delicious. My favorite lunch is the tomato soup with a grilled cheese and avocado sandwich. For breakfast, I've had their sandwiches, The Rooster and the Sunrise. Both were very flavorful and filling. The menu offers many choices. Staff are friendly and helpful. If you go to Marquette, Donkers is a must! They also have a candy store on the first floor with a wide array of chocolate treats. I love their caramels and chocolate covered cherries.
Sweet heavenly goodness. We came in for breakfast and were not disappointed! So many wonderful options of fresh local foodand they aren’t stingey with the maple! My cinnamon French toast was incredibly flavorful, and despite being thick cut, was not dry at all! A lovely view over snowy Marquette topped it off. Go here. Do it.
It's always good food here, and a cute atmosphere. I like that the restaurant is separate from the candy store, and the basement has the windows where we can watch the candy being made. The employees are lovely, and the breakfast is delicious
Excellent food and excellent service. This place never disappoints! I've been eating here for over 25 years.
If you find yourself in Marquette please treat yourself with a visit to Donckers. A very enjoyable place that is a whole lot more than a candy store. Established in 1896. My wife, son and I stopped and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The building is very nice inside. After breakfast we walked around town and then stopped back for root beer floats and a phosphate sundae. Before we left we purchased some of their fantastic chocolate. Great place! You will enjoy!!
Nice place to stop and have ice cream. Their spicy caramels were awesome!
2017 Edit: I purchased some of their large, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, and they were amazing. I'll be back again next year for more!
I stumbled upon Donckers while looking for a nice breakfast place. While I missed breakfast at Donckers, their lunch did not disappoint. Their staff is friendly, food is relatively inexpensive, and the atmosphere is wonderfully simple. The place was rather full but there is more than enough seating especially with the gorgeous patio seating. Food was delicious, with some of the best homemade pickles I've tasted. There's enough variety with a large amount of vegetarian options which shouldn't ever disappoint.
Great local place with a real history behind it. The owners care about where they started from and are happy to tell you about it. The food was very good and very creative. They had ever changing daily lunch specials which were always unique. We ended up eating either breakfast or lunch here at least 3 times during our week stay in Marquette and stopped by the first floor candy shop more times than that just to grab a hand full of treats for the day. They also have a soda fountain and ice cream as well. A really great place and a must stop for anyone visiting Marquette.
This is a must see if visiting Marquette. Amazing chocolates, perfectly lovely soda fountain. You just don't find old time gems like this anymore. Pay it a visit, or five. You won't be disappointed.
I love donkers so much. Delicious, fresh, and as healthy as you get for restaurant food. Every time i eat there the quality of the food exceeds my expectations. I had a scarecrow today and whoever made it did a truly stellar job. And the hostess gave me extra pickles :3 The place is busy for a reason!
This place is great Candy and gifts.. and ice cream and food Is a great place to bring your whole family. Quality food and ice cream.Very nostalgic and fun. Quality staff.
One of my favorite places to stop when I'm in Marquette! Love the old-time feel of this place, and the sweets are to die for. I had one of the best chocolate shakes here I've ever had in my life. Worth stopping if you're in this part of town.
