Buffet was ok I would like to see Fresh Veggies vs Frozen. And I have to Granddaughter who has a Severe Cerebral Palsey plus many other issues, she doesn't eat buy a few bites off my plate. I am sorrybut I can't believe they wanted to charge me for her dinner as a Adult, and not even give her a Silverware Setting. I had to talk to the Server who talked to the Manager. Thank you for not charging me for the 1 Meatball, 2 bites of Ham, 4 Raspberries and 2 bites of Turkey. I am a Vegetarian, so it all works out!
Had Thanksgiving at Deer Lake for the first time. It was a nice break from having 20 people at my home. Food was excellent.
To have dinner there and entertainment and the food is so good try lobster bisque on Friday night
The dinner from hell… So on Aug 25 2017 my family and another went to the Back Court Restaurant to have a nice dinner. The great thing about DLC is you can drop your kids off at the daycare for 2 hours (if you are a member) and then go have a nice dinner or sit by the pool, Forrest Milzow even encourages it himself as reported in an article from the Clarkston News “With Deer Lake’s trained and experienced staff, children are under constant supervision, allowing parents to enjoy the finer pleasures in life, such as relaxing by the club’s two new pools.” So after we were done eating we asked the waitress to leave our tab open so we could go get our kids and order a couple of Ice Cream Sundaes. After the ice cream the kids wanted to cut a rug on the dance floor, unfortunately that is when the horror began! The hostess went over to our kids and said something to them, I don’t know what she said but the next thing I know our kids came over to us and were visibly upset, after that the hostess came to our table and said we had to leave the restaurant, the reason “this is an adult establishment and it was against the law to have children here” and that she was asked by the owner to ask us the leave the restaurant! The terrible thing is there was a table right next to us with children that were not asked to leave! If it is an adult establishment WHY DO THEY HAVE AND BOAST OF A KIDS MENU STARTING AT $6!! I have never been so humiliated and upset. The kids were not being disruptive or inappropriate, in fact, some of the patrons were clapping and enjoying the kids! So as we were leaving our wives saw the owner and they asked why we were being kicked out of the restaurant, Forrest’s answer was “It has been club policy for the past two years and your waitress should have told you that,” well fortunately for us our friends wife is an attorney and later could not find any such law regarding anything about kids not being allowed in a restaurant. So we just left the building, our children crying because they thought it was their fault and our wives crying and upset for the way we were treated. The next day my friend went to the club to talk with the manager about the night before and he was told that the incident would be corrected and they would “make it right”. It wasn’t until Monday that we got a call back from the club, “Mr. LaDuke, your membership has been terminated and your reimbursement check is ready for pick-up.” And then later online this note was written “Unfortunately our dance floor is reserved for adults only. We are sorry we did not meet your expectations and we refunded your membership.” WE WERE NOT TOLD THE DANCE FLOOR WAS FOR ADULTS ONLY IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!! Furthermore, we looked into policies and nowhere is it stated that children cannot be on the dance floor. The customer service that we received was absolutely terrible!! I work in the service industry and when I have a problem or a customer is upset about something the first words out of me mouth are “I can see you are upset, what needs to be done to make it right,” EVEN IF IT WAS THE CUSTOMERS FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! This whole terrible situation could have been avoided if someone had said this to us, all parties would still be paying members and no one would have a bad taste in their mouths. It is unfortunate that Deer Lake has now lost four members that were avid recruiters for new younger members that the club so desperately needs. I hate writing reviews like this, I always hope that every business is successful, it infuses money and draws people and new businesses into the community. I really hope that the owner and employees read and understand what happened that night and adjust the way they handle things so that this type of thing never happens again. So if you were to ask me if I can recommend Deer Lake Athletic Club, unfortunately at this time the answer is no.
Great pools, great courts, racquetball, weights, spinning, and fitness classes are included in membership.
Excellent place for activities and a wedding reception!
Best there is Food, Entertainment, Banquets, Tennis, Pools (in & out) great workout area.
We were there only for dinner yesterday. The food was fantastic and the staff (can't remember if it was Amanda or Amber) was very kind and attentive. If I was more active and it wasn't so far away I might try it out.
Really disappointed with this place. There was two grown men doing laps in the lap lane (one was a lot faster then the other) and neither of them were in each other's way. However, the man who was a bit slower was thrown out of the pool (where the lifeguards are) and told to go to the other pool (where there are no lifeguards). It sickens me that even though the man was not in the man's way- they would rather jeopardize his safety and have him do laps in the other pool with no lifeguards. Shortly after the man was thrown out of the pool, the other man who kept fighting with the other man to get out, got out himself. Don't see what the big deal is- they weren't in each others way and the pool isn't even that busy in the first place. And, as I speak- there are children just "playing" in the lap lane and not being thrown out. I applaud the man who was thrown out for trying his best to do laps.
