My husband and I came here for my birthday and stayed the night at the wisp. Came to dc's after our adventures. I got a sandwich and fries. They were DELICIOUS! Jason, a bartender that said he had only worked here for 5 days so far was AWESOME! Talked to us almost the whole time, very friendly guy and very professional. We really enjoyed our stay here and def would recommend it to anyone coming out to deep creek during summer!
First anniversary at the wisp. Worst place ever pool broke..Stopped at D.C. bar for drinks at 9 pm wife wanted something fruity. Bar tender brought back a water. Was like is this a joke..his reply "my job is make sure you don't go home drunk. Ok thanks bud cause the 100 ft walk sounds way to hard.
I came here on a weekend only to meet poor service and terrible food. Everything was burnt and the server took almost 40 minutes preparing our drinks.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone whatsoever!
This was hands down the worst place I have ever eaten. We came here for a bachelorette party so excited! "Wine down Wednesday" we were so excited. The flight of wine was $4.99 and it tasted as if it was worth $0.01. We expected it to be crappy but not that crappy. Then we ordered burgers and they were the most charred burgers/food ever. We sent the burgers back, extremely apologetically and got burgers back that were even more charred. A "side" of Fries are 2.59 and you got 14 fries, literally. We payed extra for cheese. It was just a terrible experience and I hate hate complaining. Being that I am a waitress I blame none of it on the waitstaff, solely the management. I would Never recommend this to anyone.
I only gave this experience a one star because zero is not possible. The service, if I can call it that, was absolutely atrocious. Our waitress delivered our drinks and didn't return for an hour until our sushi rolls were delivered. An unfriendly attitude and a lack of attention made this one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We would have had more fun getting sausages from the outdoor snack hut.
Located within the Wisp resort -- DC's bar and restaurant came off as all around average. with relatively poor service. There were multiple times we were left stranded at the bar (there was no waitress to take orders) waiting for the bartender to stop chatting with locals. We also found that they were extremely slow to clean up after other patrons. Which left the bar feeling unclean and relatively unwelcoming.
The food could be categorized by the color brown -- as everything is fried. The sriracha chicken bites tasted like overly fried chicken, the pretzels with crab were generic, and the fried pickles were nothing special. Understanding its bar fare and everything is fried goes a long way but i wish they offered something a bit less fried as an option
Also keep in mind this town has blue laws in effect on sundays so no beer without a meal (completely ridiculous in this century)
We were staying at the WISP lodge for a ski trip, and did not really think about going to their restaurant for dinner, expecting it to be overpriced for what you got. I was wrong. The atmosphere made you feel like you were eating at a very upscale restaurant, but it also accommodation for families with children, etc. The service also made you feel this way. The food was phenomenal for the price (my husband said it was the best burger he has ever had) and my old bay seafood pasta was totally unique and delicious. I would highly recommend it!
While I don't think of DC's first when planning to dine in McHenry, perhaps I should! I have eaten there about 6 times and have always had excellent food and service. Access is excellent even during ski season (by late afternoon, at least, parking is easy even during "high" season). The restaurant is a bit hidden since it is between the hotel and the ski/conference center -- while we were there the last time two families had trouble finding the entrance. The selection of beers is excellent -- it is rare to find a good draft porter as well as several other selections! Prices are very reasonable, especially for a resort hotel. Servings are generous (my wife and I both had enough for an extra meal).
