Overrated. Food was salty, too expensive. Tourist trap. Bread is good though. Waiter was good. Went once, won't be back. Better food on the Circle. No idea why this place is so popular.

The food was good. I got the Red Snapper “Adelita”. Which
is a grilled boneless fillet topped
with hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, sun-dried
tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and onions.
Served with yellow rice. The fish was amazing, however the rice could use a little help, it was very flavorful but mushy. The ambiance was also nice, it was very open and inviting.

Great restaurant. Good service. Location on St. Armand's is fabulous. They have an awesome open air patio. Only downside is that it can be so crowded it can get really loud.

The Columbia is one of the best restaurants in all of Florida. Known for great Cuban cuisine and its great location on St. Armand Circle (Sarasota, FL) this is a happening place. The Columbia is always one of my first stops when visiting Lido Beach and Long Boat Key. ALWAYS busy, this popular restaurant affords an ambiance filled with tourist and locals alike. If you are on a budget I suggest going there for lunch. You have a choice of dining in or sitting on the patio to people watch. It is always a great time.

Wow.. this was new. We've been to other Columbia location in Tampa, and it was nice. Here it's busy, the service is the opposite of quick, plus our server was grumpy. A sangria was lightening the mood for the 30-60 minutes we waited on our food, but it went downhill fairly quickly once the food arrived. We had a paella, a stuffed shrimp, and an entree with tenderloin bites. Every piece of meat was dry and tough. This was a huge disappoinment (not every day you pay the top dollar for mediocre meals), and a surprise (again, the place is very popular).

Two words… “1905 salad”. I’m not one of those people who live on vegetables, but this is the best salad I’ve ever eaten. I could have it as my entrée but it’s a must every time I visit. This place is great for a date night and has just the right ambience. The Palomilla steak is also excellent; get it with the yellow rice. Don’t miss this gem of restaurants while visiting Florida.

We have been to the Columbia restaurant on St Armands several times and always enjoy it. They have the best Cuban food that we have been able to find in the area. The atmosphere is fun (lots of people watching if you are seated near the sidewalk). It's where we usually go to celebrate special occasions.

ALLERGY FRIENDLY
The girls at the front, our waitress and the chef were all so patient and helpful with our allergies. They also have a gluten free menu and a nut free one as well. The chef worked around my daughter's other allergies too, which includes dairy, eggs, soy and citrus. He used vegetable oil instead of soybean oil and provided fries for her. He altered what I wanted also for my allergies which included all those others plus tomatoes. We left happy and full. We're very happy with the service.

Ben was a great waiter and I suggest requesting him if you go. I am giving 4/5 because the food it quit heavy (Red Snapper El Greco). I still love this restaurant. Great bread and butter. Great 1905 salad!

The outdoor seating is PERFECT for when dining with your dog. And that's why we went here because we brought our dog.

Haven't eaten at Columbia for many years so this was a much anticipated treat. Part of our experience may be due to the fact that is was an insanely busy Friday night. It was packed.

The famous 1905 salad was lackluster, overdressed, and somewhat limp.
I had a much ballyhooed pompano with crab meat topping. The crab was dry and fishy, with zero preperation, just crab dumped on top. The fish was dry and tough. The rice clumpy and entirely unremarkable. Even the flan was deficient, with an odd uncharacteristic flavor. Not good.

Unfortunately, the Glory days of the Columbia are gone. Will not return. This was a production line meal with not an ounce of care put into it.

I have been going to the Columbia for over 30 years. The food is outstanding. Try the 1905 salad and the black bean soup. You can also buy the 1905 salad dressing to take home. Also, the Key Lime pie is the real deal! Get a seat on the sidewalk and watch the world go by on St Armand's Circle.

Waiter was very nice and very much on top of things. Our service was excellent!!! Deserving of a 5 star. In general a very friendly atmosphere. Will definitely visit again! It will be my place to go when in this area. And will definitely recomend👍

This restaurant has the energy and styling that well represents the Spanish origins of the food (it's pretty much Cuban cuisine). The restaurant is noisy with bustle, but not so much to make conversation difficult. The beer, bread and entrees were great (generous portions) and the wait staff was top notch. We visited on a Monday evening and were seated without delay. If you are looking for "low" prices then St. Armands Circle is not for you.
