Old hotel. Smack dab in the middle of downtown Delray. Price for location can't be beat. Rooms are medium sized but very comfortable. Bathrooms are stunning/breathtaking. Service is attentive and polite. Downstairs first floor can be warm and muggy because it is exposed to the elements but the open door Florida vibe is lovely. Elevator is very old original elevator and is operated by attendant only which can be annoying. Free breakfast is meh.
Not a five star hotel but a five star experience. From the old world charm of the historic hotel to the stunning oceanfront cabana club you will not find a better weekend retreat. Downtown Delray is a refreshing change of pace with casual restaurants, bars, shops and galleries at your front door. Loved our spacious superior king room with treetop views to the north. We enjoyed people watching on the front porch while enjoying the included tasty breakfast. I'm a Florida native and this hotel brought me back to gentler times.
Our favorite vacation spot. Has a neat old time Florida feel and the pool is a blessing. Hotel is right in the middle of lots of great night life. Prices are surprisingly low for the value. It's one reason we love Delray Beach.
A 6 day incredible getaway for my husband and me. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful (esp Bill). I had to ask the desk staff to print something and fax for my work and they more than happily accommodated. The bartended, Harry, greeted us daily with his infectious great attitude, remembered all about us including our names and drinks and could be the next mayor of Del Ray. He was like a concierge without the concierge. We rented the adjoining room with shared bathroom with a family member and were very happy with the old-fashoined style and feel of the entire stay. It felt like a trip back to the 1940's simplicity with all the amenities. The Cabana Club at the beach and shuttle service were awesome! Best beach club, pool, clean and comfortable cabanas, beach staff made it easy to just show up and walk in to use pool, have lunch or sit on the beach. We're planning our next trip already.
Really cool place, very old vibe, but in a good way. Perfect location.
This beautiful and historic hotel in the center of down town Del Ray couldn't be better positioned.
Easy walking distance to shops and incredible food, as well as being only a small distance to the ocean. It's historic nature means there are some things that haven't changed since it opened and that's not a bad thing.
I should mention that the Friday & Saturday night live music are a real highlight.
Also the ocean Cabana shouldn't be missed.
Why does it lose 1 star? It loses a Star because I feel as though there are a collection of small things that new management might be able to fix and turn the hotel from very good to great.
- Continental breakfast is common and solid but not great.
- Shuttle service to Cabana could run more frequently
Room was cute, loved the design in the building. Had a great bar out in front and the bartender was great. Would recommend this place to anyone.
We visited the Colony Hotel in June. The hotel itself is really cool and has an old-Florida vibe. The staff was friendly and helped us with our bags up the antique elevator. I enjoyed the rooms furnished with antique furniture and our rooms connected with a shared bathroom to our children's room. They had fantastic entertainment on the front porch in the evenings. The morning breakfast had just enough variety and the coffee was really great. The only disappointment I had was how far away the beach club was from the actual hotel. When I called to make reservations the reservationists made it seem like I could walk to the beach club from the hotel. But you definitely need a car or trolley to get there. However, the beach club itself is amazing once you get there. The food on the beach and the availability of chairs and umbrellas was perfect. Very relaxing and uncrowded. Over all, and now that I know the details of this hotel, I would say yes to staying here again. And recommend it to my friends. I truly enjoyed how close it was to all of the bars and restaurants in Delray.
We just visited to confirm our reservation for our planned August stay. We walked in around 1:30pm. The hotel is so open and inviting. You're free to walk in from the front or back and admire all the historic rooms on the first floor. The front desk staff were really personable and helpful. We are very excited for our stay!
I cannot express how rude and unprofessional the evening employees are in this hotel. The two men I had the unpleasant exprience with went as far as to use profanity.
There is nothing about this hotel that merits putting up with this type of staff. My family and I hope that management cleans up their personnel soon to be able to give this hotel a second chance.
Had such a great experience. Very clean rooms. Very friendly staff. I Asked the front desk where I can order really good food for delivery and they recommended me to order food from Bella nonna gourmet pizza down the street as they handed me 1 of their menus. They sure were right. They had really good food. Their dinners were amazingly good. And their pizzas was out of this world. Toped it if they delivered in my room. I never had to leave. What a great experience. Thank you so much and I am recommending this hotel to all my friends and family. Good job staff
Part of Delray Beach history. Right on Atlantic Avenue, great place for a drink and relax on the Avenue. Beautiful building. Great place for people watching.
Myself and my family have stayed at the Colony and taken advantage of the gorgeous beach club. The hotel is a very uniquely older one with restored wooden floors and brightly painted halls.
The beach club is the best part! The colony guests are permitted to use the beach club! Upon arrival the pool is in a separate gated area to the right. Covered pavilion seating to the left. The pool has plenty of lounge chairs and a huge Bahama grass area with a unique like warm sitting pool with a waterfall.
The beach is straight out and the path is lines with grass about waist high. The path lined with wood planks for pain free access.
