Wonderful staff Good breakfast.. love having the fireplace in the room. It was a great price I could see the capitol from the window what a wonderful place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay - beautiful big rooms with an old world charm! We didn't drive and the inn was 10-15 mins of walk from everything in the city.Breakfast was delicious and the team running the inn were kind and warm.

Wonderful stay just a tad to close to the highway but considering the location and cost this was money well spent. I would ask for any room away from the freeway. The service here was great the other guest were courteous and friendly. This was a delightful stay.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to help me find restaurants and things to do in the area. The room was spacious and comfortable. I would stay here again in a heartbeat

This was my first time ever staying at a bed and breakfast. I was in town for a conference being held at the Renaissance hotel about a 5-10 minute walk away. I enjoyed the walk along quaint Holden Street every day.
My room was on the third floor and the nice lady who checked me in helped me carry my ridiculously heavy suitcase up the three flights of stairs. The room itself was very nice and spacious. I was happy to see a small refrigerator in the room also. I had a little trouble with the wi-fi; it seemed slow at times, but that may have just been the security settings on my work laptop. Based on other reviews, I requested a room on the west side of the house to help with traffic noise, but I could still hear the highway. I didn't find it very bothersome, though. Whenever I turned on the a/c, it would drown out the sounds of traffic. I also brought a white noise machine with me to use at night, but I didn't even use it every night. Unless you're just super-sensitive to ambient noises, I wouldn't expect the road sounds to be very troublesome.
I had breakfast three of the four mornings I was there. I was glad to see that they opened the breakfast room at 7:30 during the week, because based on other reviews, I thought it wouldn't start until 8:00. (It might be helpful to provide more details about how breakfast is served on the website). I chose the "hot" option all three mornings. Once was waffles; once pancakes; and once an omelet. All three came with sausage and of course all the other options available on the self-serve table. The breakfasts were always tasty, visually appealing and filling.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great for walking to shopping and dining. I caught an Uber ride to and from the airport for $21 when I arrived and $15 to go back - I presume the difference was due to time of day.
Overall I was very happy with my stay and would consider staying at the Christopher Dodge House again. Incidentally, rooms at the Renaissance hotel where my conference was being held were going for the exact same price I paid at CDH. I felt I got far more character, charm, and a better breakfast for the same price.response / report this review -

Christopher Dodge House has well attended rooms, with charm and style of simplicity that evokes the historical feeling of New England. Yet the modern amenities are all within the rooms. The freedom to be reclusive or social, to get a coffee or baked good at any time all felt very much like home. The staff were warm, friendly and considerate, offering suggestions and sharing the history and surrounding points of interest. The only area I would wish to improve upon would be to have a specified daily vegetarian or non-meat option available for breakfast, the same as is provided for the meat option, equal in presentation, interest and description.

Unpretentious, comfortable, friendly and close to everything we wanted to see. Freshly baked goods to snack on, lots of coffee throughout the day. Very simple, couldn't have asked for anything more.

This is a decent bed and breakfast but BEWARE IT SIDES THE FREEWAY. If you are staying in a room on east side of the property you will hear freeway noise night and day! The rooms are very spacious and the home is very quaint, the staff is accommodating and they are very hospitable with fresh baked cookies , etc. There is no elevator, due to the age of the property so getting your luggage up and down several flights of stairs was a little challenging. I would recommend staying here, just make sure you get a room away from the freeway side!

Lovely historical home turned bed and breakfast. Not wheelchair accessible. They did give us a lower floor room because my mom has mobility issues and wouldn't be able to climb stairs to the third floor. She only had to do about 4 or 5 stairs. They also served us breakfast in the room, because the breakfast room/common area was on the second floor. Very nice staff
