This is such a beautiful place to visit. The history is very interesting. You can see how the place has such a special appeal to it even if you are not religious. The garden space is pretty and a nice photo op spot. The actual church itself is a good size and is very detailed in art and I liked that everything had its written history on it. It was not expensive for the tour and well worth it. The gift shop was nice. It is small but had a lot to offer. The architecture is interesting to note the differences between times, materials used and the small little details.

Price is $9.50 per person for entry. Beautiful mission. Still have a couple of original rooms. School is added on. Stop inside and say. Prayer if you feel like it.

So rich with history. We were looking around the chapel, and one of the workers asked us if had been inside yet. We said no and he said well let me give you to tour and took us in a back way. Such a great experience!!

I highly recommend a visit to the Carmel Mission. There are so many displays, photographs, artifacts and interesting items for sale that it took me all afternoon to look at them and enjoy them.

The Carmel Basilica was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. My husband and I visited at the end of the summer, when there were weddings taking place as we were visiting. It is such a special place to be married, and the tourism did not conflict with the ceremonies. The videos in the smaller structures were very interesting and informative. Also, there is a sizeable, beautiful courtyard. If you enjoy learning about the local area and enjoy historical architecture or art, this is a MUST SEE. It will guide you in the direction of other hidden historical sites.

Been here before, this time it was almost closed and it cost to get in now. It's well worth going. Jauniparo Serria grave is there. I pray I didn't spell his name wrong. Anyway you can feel the presence of God very strong in the mission. I was there 4 days ago, and I already regret not taking the time to go in. You surly can't put a price on feeling the Sport of God. And, such a great price. What can I say. Dumb things happen when you're tired. Please make a trip it's beyond well worth it!!

As a day trip it was very relaxing. Serene atmosphere and mild-cool weather. Not too much walking involved but on Sundays, when we visited, a donation is appropriate to walk the mission as Sunday's there is Rosary and Mass.
Emotional to see and read that St. (Pope)John Paul ll prayed and reflected in the small foyer.

The History of California follows the Missions and Carmel is one of the most beautiful of them. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The mission itself has quite a history, all on display in this museum.

Very pleasant mission. Would recommend a visit for everyone. Senior discount for 62 safe $2., regular price 9.50. Informative with short films at a few locations. Nice.

Just a 15 minute walk from the shopping district of town is this amazing church and mission. It was built in 1771 and I have to say it was far different from any church I've seen around the world. Maybe because I thought it had a southwest vibe with its wooden beams and lights. While there, explore the museum and grounds. I'd suggest you walk there from the main part of town so you can explore the surrounding neighborhoods.
