I kept hearing this place was one of the most romantic restaurants in Michigan, but I found it did not live up to the hype. However, the service and the food were excellent!
I went there this pass month with my husband for our one month wedding anniversary. We got seated adjacent to the fireplace by a brick wall. The staffs were attentive. I believe I had a total of 5 different waiters/waitresses attending to us during the whole dinner. Unfortunately, our waitress forgot to bring us our left over as we left the restaurant.
The food was also superb and good portion. I had one of specials, a pan seared scallop dish. The scallops were almost as big as my fist. My hubby got one of the pasta dish. Both were excellent!
However, we were seated next to another couple who were yupping away the whole time, kind of distracting. Also, being by a brick wall and the railing in a dark corner did not align with what most people envisioned as romantic.response / report this review -

Excellent food, intimate atmosphere and outstanding service. Authentic italian food. When you reserve your table, request to sit in Paul's section. Truly a professional at his craft - he really works to make the entire meal a wonderful experience. We celebrated our anniversary. Our favorite restaurant for special occasions.

The most amazing restaurant you never knew existed. Nestled in a quaint location Cafe Cortina offers it all. Rina and Tammy are amazing and cater to your every need. My wife and I got married here just over 2 years ago and you would have thought we owned the place. Service above and beyond our expectations and no detail left out. Amazing staff who treat you like family and remember you. We go back every year for our anniversary and get treated like a million bucks. Not to mention the food is out of this world.

We had reservations and were seated at our reserved time. Valet was prompt at both times. Servers were amazing, although many (yes, many) had thick accents. There were servers to bring you water, bread, entree, etc. it was very formal and nice. We loved it. We asked for something off menu for an appetizer and were accommodated by the chef with the help of our very friendly server. All around a great experience.

The service is incredible!!! I came on Valentine's day and, because it was February, it was cold. I addled the easier if they had hot chocolate and he said the he didn't, however, he had the chef make some anyways. A little later i was still chilly, so the waiter (without even having to be asked) heated up the fire for me.
Everyone was so nice and the food was AMAZING!!!
Overall it was an amazing experience and I hope I will be filling back soon.response / report this review -

I attended a friend's wedding at Cafe Cortina. I was blown away by our server's attention to detail and meeting my needs as a vegan at this festive occasion. The kitchen prepared vegan minestrone soup, a beautiful salad, and scrumptious grilled vegetables in balsamic vinegar. Absolutely amazing! My waiter went the extra mile and offered fresh berries for desert. I hope he can forgive me that I can't remember his name!!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Classic, old school Italiano. You'll feel like you're in Cinema Paradiso and it'll put a dent in your wallet but it's definitely worth trying once. I'd recommend it only for a romantic night out when your'e feeling like a moody Italian restaurant with top notch service.

Everything was amazing! The risotto was really good! The service was the best experience ever! My only complaint was the lamb chops had a little too much balsamic sause! The filet was perfect! I'd eat there every day!

What an Outstanding place to eat. The wait staff were fantastic as well. Everything was an A+ for our time there. And if it's only two of you going, call ahead and see if you can get a table by the fireplace. Its a great intimate atmosphere.

I was forced to valet park after I was told the lot was full, he said I could park next door at a different businessthen I realized that I would have to walk through snow to get to the restaurant. Came in and had a reservation for 7pm, the host proceeded to tell us the reservation was for 7:30pm, after he saw the look in my eyes he said someone must have made a mistake, don't lie to me after meeting me for just one minute. We had multiple guests and I'm 100% sure about the reservation time. I was getting a little concerned about how the night was beginning, but after that the wait staff was great and the food was good. So overall the night turned out ok.
