Beautiful garden all year around. Contains several different themed gardens so if you come to visit plan to spend at least a couple of hours to walk through the whole thing. Several entrances for each of access, depending on what you are closest to. Also offers fun classes and has a great gift shop!

Beautiful Park that offers cherry blossoms in the spring and colors throughout the summer. May be used year-round but Peaks when weather warms. Admission price is waived during the winter months and some weekdays throughout the year. Handicap accessible. Check out the Japanese gardens. A slice of Prospect Park the Brooklyn Botanical Garden I understand is going through some improvements that will make this Haven of Brooklyn even better. Look forward to changes within the next two years

One of the most beautiful places to experience in the world! Great place to spend the day alone, with the family or if you are with a group of people who simply love gardening or are rose enthusiasts such as the folks at the Manhattan Rose Society.

The staff are very friendly and it is also one of the best places to volunteer! The BBG is a place that all people should frequent if you love horticulture and sharing your love of it.

I love this garden. I'm a member. There are picnic evenings and other activities for members.
I love Sakura park, Japanese pond area. It's so relaxing in the garden. Even you come tired here, you freshen up when you inhale clean oxygen, aroma from flowers. You don't even feel like you are in Brooklyn.
Staff is friendly.

If you want a break from the fast moving urban setting, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden provides it. Don't miss the top notch bonsai collection in the conservatory. Some of these little living sculptures are well over a hundred years old. The Japanese Garden is another highlight and is especially nice in the spring when the weeping cherry trees are in bloom.
The annual Cherry Blossom Festival is fun but very crowded with lots of Japanese cultural performances.
If you have the time, Prospect Park is right there and is worthwhile.
Note: if you are willing to travel up to the Bronx, the New York Botanical Garden is arguably even nicer (they have more space and a fabulous conservatory and regularly have great special exhibitions).

Wonderful assortment of plants, stroller accessible, with wonderful views. Free admission on Tuesday's, too! Although I am not too thrilled about the prices at the cafe, it's pretty standard for the NYC museums and parks.

If you happen to be in the area, this place is free on Tuesdays and worth a visit. I went about the second week of July. So I missed out on the rose garden - it wasn't very full at all. However, I loved all of the huge sunflowers and the bonsai trees (especially the one covered in lines!). The lily ponds make for some beautiful pictures and there were lots of flowers in bloom all around them. The architecture of buildings are beautiful, too.

We walked a complete circle in about a little over an hour.

I can't say this is one of the most impressive gardens I've been to. But if I lived near by in sure I'd enjoy walking through on free days!

This is my favorite place in NYC and the best botanical garden in the area. Check their website for the cherry blossom schedule and head there when they're in bloom! It's a beautiful experience. The only downside is how strict they are about where you are allowed to sit in the grass, there are definitely not enough seating areas to not allow people to sit on the grass.

One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. No matter what time of year you visit, it is magnificent. That being said I highly recommend early spring when the cherry blossoms are blooming and the tulip garden is planted. A great place for families, a date, or just a walk by yourself. Pro-tip: entrance is free Tuesdays and Saturdays before noon. Also the gift shop is superb, if you're looking for plants to gift, definitely check it out.

The BBG is one of my favorite attractions to visit on the weekends. In the spring and summer, I can always find a quiet corner to sit and read. In the winter, the conservatory is like taking a quick vacation to a tropical forest without leaving the borough. There is a small cafe in the main building for coffee and a pastry and The Yellow Magnolia Cafe is where you can grab a small meal by the conservatory. The gift shop has some nice stuff including books, notecards, housewares, and of course plants. They'll stop you from bringing in coffee or food, so keep that in mind.

Gorgeous grounds. They have a student and senior citizen discount. Perfect activity on a spring day to see all the cherry blossoms, tulips, and other flora. The 2/3 train is located right near the garden.

This is the best Garden in the whole metropolitan New York area. Next to or rather part the Prospect Park in Brooklyn leading from Flatbush Avenue starting from Manhattan Bridge. Although they change quite high fees for entrance, but they do offer some free hours, especially free Fridays for seniors. Starting end of March through Fall is the h best time to visit here. The important events including the famous Cherry Blossom in mid-April till early May, and continuous with other flowers.

Walking around in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is such a lovely respite from city living. I always feel transported somewhere else, especially in the spring when everything is in bloom. It's a fantastic getaway within the city. There are some cool indoor exhibits as well like the bonsai exhibit. The staff is very friendly; they're happy to try to answer any plant questions you have and make signing up for a membership an easy, breezy process. Enjoy!

Get away from the hectic city and come here. Beautiful place to visit with friends and family. Best seasons are spring and summer. The vibrant colors of the flowers are stunning. There is an area for kids to learn about nature. An indoor area where certain plants need their own climate weather. I recommend to see the Japanese pond and garden. :-)
BTW Tuesday is free admission.
