I don't usually write reviews for places, but the treatment my girlfriend received at this location was both unprofessional and appalling. She was looking forward to a trip to this Bookman's but it was cut short when a middle-aged, cranky, unprofessional, unkempt man with long brown hair decided it was okay to talk down to my girlfriend when she was being friendly and trying to help.
My girlfriend found cookbooks in the vegetarian cookbook section which were not vegetarian and she decided to tell a store associate because she knows how rude customers can get sometimes when books are misplaced. For this man it was just "more work" and he decided to say so to my girlfriend in a very rude and hostile manner. He was very snarky and excused his laziness with "It has SOME vegetarian recipes in it." News flash: Most cookbooks have SOME vegetarian recipes in them. That doesn't make every cookbook in existence a "vegetarian" or a "vegan" cookbook. My girlfriend was in awe and ended up having to leave the store and get in the car to call the store's acting manager because she felt she was in an unsafe and unprofessional environment.
This is disgusting. I will be contacting the store manager. This is not a professional way to treat customers, and if he felt like he didn't want to do any work today then maybe he should have not shown up for work. Someone was just being nice and trying to help and you treat her like this. We're probably never going to this location again and I advise anybody else from doing the same. There is a better location down Speedway a few miles that treats customers like people.
We used to love this place. Recently, their prices have gone through the roof! I rarely buy anything here anymore because it’s cheaper to buy new! Check yourself Bookman’s. You’re selling used stuff and charging new prices lol. Good luck with that model.
Made a purchase 11/19 and returned the item on 11/20. The cashier charged my card twice causing my account to overdraft and when I went back 11/21 around 630-7PM and got a cashier named Jackie. She was very rude after asking for a manager went to the other counter came back and stated “So I am a manager and I have some bad news. I can’t refund you your money. Your going to have to call tomorrow. You don’t have a receipt. Now please leave!” Yelling upset with no customer service skills at all. I had the transaction receipt they left me with and my bank statement as the cashier took the remainder of receipts the day before. After calling a different store and talking to Eric who said this was not right any she could have refunded the money and the night shift is where the newbies, not so good employees go. I will be calling the main manager again today and sharing my experience and will just stick to shopping online.
A pleasant place; everything you would expect from a bookmans, and nothing you wouldn't.
Just bought a Korg SP-280 (digital piano) for a better- than - elsewhere price, and since they didn't have a stand for sale in the back, management decided to generously allow the purchase of the display stand for $25.
Bookmans on Wilmot and Speedway is always a delight to visit. The store is clean and we'll staffed. You can tell the employees want to help customers as much as they can. The best part is the selection of books, movies, toys and video games they have for sale. Turn in your unwanted things for credit and pick up some cool other things. I will be a fan for life.
Great used bookstore with large selection. Be prepared to spend hours browsing. Great kids’ selection. Also a selection of musical instruments that is guaranteed to catch your eye. Prices can be high on instruments. Various knick knacks for sale scattered throughout store.
They are pretty picky about accepting items for trade, but it's worth bringing in books, and what they don't take then donate to nonprofits. Highly recommended
Great place! The only problem I have ever had was getting an incorrect CD. Unfortunately, the CD is rare, and they do not have it. The staff is friendly, and they have a great collection of books, CDs, games, and other treasures!
I could have spent hours browsing! I will definitely return when I'm in Tucson again. Wish we had such a fantastic store near my home.
Whenever I'm out and about in public and I can't make it home in time, I use their bathroom to take a dump. Their bathroom is NICE!!! One of the nicest public restrooms in town! There's plenty of reading material too!
It's inexpensive, unique, and I think it's fun. The books aren't what you'd typically find in a Barnes and Nobles, since the store focuses on trade-ins. However, Bookmans won't necessarily give you what your trade-in books are worth. They've got to make a profit, though, so I get it.
We used to love coming here like 2 times a week to find stuff, now they want so much for junk. They want more than new cost for things. They are gonna turn into a gamestop and go out of business. Its hard to support your local businesses when they wanna rip you off
Worst place in my life they sold me a used 64 remote at a new remote price, i was cool with that until i got home to only find out that it didn't work AT ALL!! And i didn't even get my receipt, how can i return this useless waist of money. Its not even worth it i will never return here in my life shop online for 64 parts my advice.
Broke a collectible blown glass piece I brought in to sell and gave me 50 cents for it. No apology. I wanted more than fifty cents. My tough luck. SELLERS BEWARE! Poor customer service on top of that. They could not give me a price for each thing they bought, just an overall price for the lot. I question what they sell any of it for and wonder if the employees do it and buy your stuff for nothing. Seems like a scam that can't be tracked!
