It was great while it lasted. Will miss the inventive dishes by chef.
Great food, great atmoshphere! We joined another couple for dinner and were blown away by the quality of the food and service. My pork tenderloin just melted in my mouth, and the desserts were fantastic. Absolutely try their gimlet!
So sad they will be closing soon. A landmark coming to an end.
Being a little generous here with 4 stars, maybe a solid 3.5. Nobody at the table were wowed by their food. There is not a lot of choice in this town and will give the place another try as I have had good meals here before.
This was my first time at Blue Ginger and while the food was delicious, I was left hoping for more. We had the Dine Out Boston menu which has a good number of the regular menu items on it. The dinner selection was good (tastes even better) but lacked the "exotic" flavors that you can get with their lunch menu. I was a little disappointed in the warm chocolate chip cookie dessert but my bar has been set high from other restaurants.
I'd go here again for Dine Out Boston (or lunch) but probably not for the regular dinner menu. More exciting options out there to try for the first time before I repeat dinner here.
Ordered the chicken lettuce cups - the meat was full of gristle and inedible. The spices for the main dish that I sent back and for the spring rolls were very strage - a mixture of a British/Thai and Indian curry all mixed - didn't like the spice combination. I'm used to Thai and Indian food and the flavor just seemed off with too many spices mixed together. Will not go back, nor recommend this.
Service and appetizers were first rate. Sadly the salmon and seaweed salad wasn't close my expectations. The seaweed should have been thrown out several days earlier. I noticed several others in my group also didn't eat it. Despite the salmon being overly sweet it still tasted a bit old. I did eat it even if it was below the quality I'd ever serve if I was preparing a meal. The creme brûlée was fine. Even if the salmon had been fresher it revealed the chef doesn't have a knack for mixing flavors.
My family and I came to Blue Ginger to celebrate a Birthday. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly, I recommend the butter fish. We also ordered some apps form the Bar section, all amazing. The service was great! We will definitely be returning.
