Great and delightful place! The owner was onsite and was more than accommodating! We had a great time and our room was cozy and quaint. Luckily we could bring our puppy as well! Highly recommended

Not sure where the 3.5 star average comes from. This is a charming, super clean B&B run by people who clearly still care - even after 28 years Homemade breakfast with lots of ingredients fresh from the garden and great coffee. Pet friendly! A/C was installed about a year ago (for those of you who read older reviews), but who wouldn't rather open the windows at night and breathe that fresh mountain air

I am planning my wedding here. The Innkeeper is very knowledgeable, and warm. The Inn has a storied history, of famous artists and intellectuals summering here. There are 6 guest rooms for our parents and bridesmaids. Everything seems ideal. We can't wait to be married here and part of the story of the Black Mountain Inn.

One of the main reasons I chose this location was because I could stay for only one night - many places require you to stay at least two. Supposedly "haunted," this is a super cool place for folks who enjoy the mystery inherent with "old stuff." We stayed in the Peter room. Not a lot to write home about - small, no TV, just the basics, but cozy and comfy. Breakfast was home-cooked and delicious; the lady of the house was super sweet. I opted for a 90 minute massage before heading out the next morning and that was a real treat. Would definitely visit again.

We just returned from a weekend in Black Mountain and stayed here. Reviews were mixed, but the idea of trying something unique in such a historic house was appealing. We stayed in the Loft, which is essentially the entire top of the house. The room was amazing and of course vary spacious. The bathroom was a bit tight, but otherwise we enjoyed our stay. The lack of air conditioning on a 90 degree day was noticeable, but the fans and open windows made for a nice night once the temperature dropped. I can say that it would be an incredible place to stay in the Fall.

Breakfast was nice and we had a chance to catch up with the other guests, which is a big part of the fun in staying at a Bed and Breakfast. If you're interested in a very historic setting, give this a try.

We stayed in the upstairs loft, and it was wonderful. It used to be the painting studio back when this was an artist'see colony, so it has LOTS of windows you can open to enjoy the mountain breezes. It's a huge space and decorated in funky antique furniturewith a soft, comfortable queen-sized bed. Also there is a mini fridge, free wifi and a deep tub, with soap that smells like real flowers. And here's a feature the kids will love: You enter the loft through a large, but easy to open, trap door with an ornate counterweight. We definitely got video of that! Too bad, didn't get to try the breakfast because of working late, but that table setting with the multicolored glassware looked really inviting. Next time, for sure! We had a great time at the Black Mountain Innall I can say is, if you want something regular and predictable, go to the chain motels. If you want something more fancied upyou know, like a B&B with a wine tastingair conditioningmaybe a guy singing opera every evening.then the Black Mountain Inn is not your kind of place. But if you love charm, history and a real mountain experience, then this is the one to book in the Black Mountain/Asheville area.

I don't believe any of the reviews listed here are from people who actually stayed at this inn. My first thought driving to the Inn was that the area was a bit sketchy, near a prison. After parking we walked all around to find the front door locked. There is no clear path to the entrance. Someone greeted us and introduced himself, but did not offer drinks or any reasonable hospitality you would expect from a "charming B&B" We entered a very old, not well cared for house, it was poorly furnished, dimly lit. It looked like someone had left there many decades ago and then someone else arrived yesterday, pulled the sheets off the furniture and opened it for business. The bed was too small for my fiancee to even fit in, it reeked of mildew, the sheets were old flannel that were not soft. We stayed about 15 minutes and as soon as we were able to find another room, we were outta there!!
