Huge park lots of trails .Campgrounds set off from parks.Saw sign can earn free badge for helping pick up litter from around park that's cool .Camping area not particularly big and tent sites are gravel.Huge river for water recreation didn't see much for swimming though . Does have a small playground at the campsite.Has a nature center Definately a place I desire to explore.

The park and surrounding state forest offer a lot. I spend a lot of free time in it. Would it say it's great for kids Not really. It's a great place for quiet. It offers phenomenal fishing at times. Be prepared to lose baits in the lake but you can have some fun. It's loaded with pickerel.

For a weekend away from State College, this place is great. It has nature walks, including one along the coast of the bog, kayak/canoe/paddleboard rentals between Memorial Day & Labor Day, and the bog itself is a unique sight in late June (approximately) when the water lilies are in bloom.

I grew up here! It’s a wonderful place to visit for campers , hikers, snowmobilers, and swimmers to a lesser extent (swimming area is fairly small). Since my childhood here, the park has expanded its scope and range of activities to be very family friendly and community inclusive. I am frequently amazed at the number of programs it now offers versus my youth.

love this lake. The fishing isn't great but it it's a really nice and fun place to visit. Good hiking and picnic areas, good for families as well. I great the do ice fishing in the winter but I have not experienced that.

A wonderful park that is close to home. Plenty of fun trails to follow. A great little lake to kayak. Fishing is excellent here too!

Great campground, and beautiful forests. Bathroom has been recently upgraded, and the park looks clean. Great place to unplug, whether you like it, or not. Poor cellphone reception, at best, because it's up on the Allegheny Plateau. Plenty of wildlife nearby, but still great for kids, because of the lake. There's a beach, but no life guard. The camp store is well stocked, which is good because there isn't a big town anywhere close by. I visit as many Pennsylvania State Parks as I can, but Black Moshannon State Park is one I will return to regularly. My wife was equally impressed!

Nice size and shaded tent campsites. Restrooms very clean and modern, self flush toilets, warm and adjustable shower heads. No shelf space in second shower, must leave stuff outside of shower. Restrooms aren't overly bright at night, nice feature if camping close by.
Many trails to enjoy, bog trail was interesting.
Camped early June, not many mosquitoes, was surprised, but did get a couple of black fly bites when close to lake. Best to bring repellent.

This lake is a beautiful high altitude wetland that is a habitat to many rare bog plants, like the carnivorous pitcher plant. It's also a great place to kayak and fish. There are kayak and canoe rentals available.

Gorgeous park. Easy in and out for RV camping. Loved that we reserved and paid online and their policy is for you to go directly to your site. Drive to Penn State campus and give yourself an hour to visit the arboretum.

This is the best place to go for any kind of outdoor fun. Camp, hike, canoe, amphitheatre, plus tons n tons more. My parents always took me there when I was a kid. Now I get to enjoy watching my children enjoy the same places I did! There's many summer programs, classes, and activities to choose from, as well as seasonal n holiday activities. So be sure u like their page and check for new activity schedules n sign ups. The spots are very limited as this is a very popular place and beautiful. So if ur interested in signing yourself or children up for some super awesome fun, then u need to do it as soon as its possible to guarantee your spot. Don't forget when u go to get some fishing done, do stop by the camp store n grab an ice-cream cone!
