They offer a nice and quirky menu, sure to satisfy everyone. Every time we're in the area, at least once a year, we reserve a dining spot there. Unfortunately, the last time we were there, they had run out of my favorite Pinot grigio, and my most favorite dessert that was two out of two of my favorites. However, even though I was disappointed, I will ALWAYS return there!!!
Excellent food and a cozy atmosphere. I had the Spanish Mussels and they were outstanding!
Good food, delicious burger. They're working on their liquor license so they couldn't serve drinks, which was a bummer. Hope they get it sorted soon, as it's well worth a visit!
A good restaurant, with a New Orleans ambiance. They were out of a lot of items on the menu when we visited. They were also not able to serve alcool. The French fries were a disappointment. The menu for kids really is limited. Service is ok, but not great.
Best eatery in Glens Falls. Excellent dishes and great atmosphere.
Can compete with Saratoga Springs restaurant scene anytime. Very interesting menu.
We walked in and waited to be seated, but were ignored by 2 different staff persons.
After a few more moments, we left.
In an area with so many restaurant choices, why would anyone put up with that?
We try to come to Saratoga Springs every August and each time, we make sure to make reservations here. Although the gastronomy experience is extraordinary, my main reason for coming here is for their Pinot
Grigio, Di Lenardo 2015 and their Tiramisu dessert. There are two nooks at the entrance, we were seated at one. Our waitress came over very timely, and the first thing she said was that they had distributor issues and as a result, the Pinot Grigio would not be available. I was crushed! But, I didn't let that disappointment spoil our special evening; namely just spending quality time together, away from our busy 'real lives' back home. I ordered the champagne instead. (Actually, I thought that since their signature pinot grigio was not available, they should have the white wine standby available by the glass). Instead of ordering an appetizer or two followed by two entrees, we decided to order a few 'small plates' instead. From our selected choices, I must share that the 'deviled mimosa eggs' we just okay to disappointing. Not really sure what we expected with deviled eggs, but regardless, not a culinary hit for us. They ran out of the roast pig starter. The remaining four starters were very good; one was ricotta gnocchi (pretty good), another was steamed mussels served with creamy polenta (that was excellent). Dessert time. Another disappointment: they no longer have Tiramisu on the dessert menu.
In summary, perhaps the choices we made were not optimum gastronomical choices, I feel that they should have been because every product on their menu should be representative of our extraordinary gastronomic experiences of the past. Will we return? Haven't made a decision as of yet, and perhaps time will tell. Either way, it was not the extraordinary oral experience of the past.
So disappointed..Ignored, put aside, and left to watch others enjoy their food while we sat and received no service. We waited over 30 minutes for our little plate of complimentary bread, while we watched patrons of larger parties right next to us receive theirs in five minutes or less. Our small appetizer took yet a another 30 minutes & our main meal which was just two sandwiches and fries added 30 more minutes. A very pretentious place with no real care for your enjoyment or pleasure if your not ordering big and expensive. Servers are very concerned about their tips, so if you are not drinkers and do not order straight away from their elaborate but over priced drink menu, you too will probably experience the neglect we felt. The server was our biggest disappointment, but I can not compliment the food much either. They do not get it, the word "T.IP.S." stands for "To Insure Proper Service", and that should be for ALL! Although we tipped the server it was in accordance to his level of service.
While I cannot deny the number of good reviews I've seen for this bistro, my experience was not a good one. I had reservations for 7 on a Tuesday and arrived 10 minutes early because I was excited to finally try out this popular place. 7:10 - we placed drink orders and by 7:15 we had decided on 2 very simple plates; a burger and a pulled pork sandwich both with fries and a couple appetizers. 15 minutes later a small plate with 4 sections of dry bread w/oil & vinegar is served. 15 minutes later our 2 appetizers arrived (a salad & a 4oz leg of seared duck). It was good but gone in 5 minutes. At this point we were there and seated for over 45 minutes. Another half hour passes and our meals arriveA hamburger and a pulled pork sandwich! It was a bit busy BUT larger groups of people were coming and going and getting served all the while we waited patiently for our simple meals. Then this really 'innovative' restaurant could not produce a simple yellow mustard for a simple hamburger. I like to call this the 'desperate to be different' flaw. So different they cant just do something simple. This has happened in other so called popular and trendy eateries in town. Mustard or no mustard the burger did not taste like burger due to the special sauce and the pork was strangely flavor-cancelled by the provolone and hot sauce. Disappointing.
When we expressed our impatience to 'wrap-it-up' and check out (after nearly 2 hours at the forgotten table) there was absolutely no empathy for the wait or any inconvenience it may have caused. I'm very sorry to the wonderful couple that gave us this lavish gift and I honestly hope that you know it is the thought that really counts. We won't be back.
This little restaurant is a great place to go for a special occasion. I ordered the small plate of the pork tenderloin cutlet served over polenta and spinach, it was delicious! The service here is great, I'd go back!
Never had a bad meal here! The food is fresh and flavorful. They also have amazing drinks.
I have only ever had excellent meals here. Staff is friendly and the food is eclectic and unique. They have a great beer selection and their menu changes. (Always for the better)
Good menu selection and variety. Small plate items available. Had the veal shank special which was fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient.
Reviews were very good for this place, and when my cousin visited me, I brought her here for her Birthday dinner. I also was with my 7 y.o. Looks like it is an adult only place. It is OK that they did not have any crayons and stuff for kids, we were there to eat, but it would be nice to see a kid's menu. At least they have smaller sizes of entrees. For myself, I ordered an entree with scallops. They have a same name salad/appetizer with scallops. When I saw a picture on the website with two scallops and some greens, I thought it was a salad, and since the entree was more expensive, I expected something different. Nop. That's what I got. I wonder how many scallops in the salad then. The taste was hard to judge as it was very salty to my taste. My cousin's dish was too salty as well. But my main dislike is unfriendliness. The waiters were not rude or anything. We just did not feel welcomed. It was that kind of attitude "Ok, you came to eat, eat and leave, and no one cares if you come back." So we did not even mention that we were celebrating my cousin's BD as we did not expect anything (like a cupcake with a candle) from this crew.
I travel all around the world for business and always one of my favorite things to do is find the best restaurants in town. For me, this is one of the top two in Glens Falls. Just what I'd hope to find at a place that calls itself a "bistro". I just finished several weeks in Portland OR, known for their food. I say this place could survive there. And the small plate option is great! I wish more places had that. Now all they need is a little expresso machine!!!
Entrees average $25 and worth it. We showed up on a Wednesday eve for dinner at 7pm --peak dinner hour--didn't have a reservation but they made accommodations for us. Everything was top-notch. I had the salmon with spinach and fennel, and my daughter had the suckling pig. Both were very delicious. We will return.
