Very cool place to visit. It was getting dark when I went, but I still took some nice pictures. I seen there are candles to purchase for $3.00 each. I would recommend that people visit this monument.

There's nothing like it in the area, but be prepared for a lot of religious stuff everywhere. Take in the view of the statue, look out over Keweenaw Bay, and carry on. Watch out for donation boxes, they're all over the place.

Everytime I come up this way or on the way back I always stop.
Theres something "mistic" about the sitemost of the time its on the way up -I get my "blessing" at least a couple of times in a year -i have walked down at different seasons and each time holds another surprise of flowers in the spring and summer ,to Bishop Baraga surrounded in snow.read his story-light a candleor check out the little gift shop (I hear they make Pasties on occasion)
Everyone thats ever had to ride or follow me knows ..we stop, a must see for history buffs .oh did i say it was the beginning of the real up north?
