Wasn't impressed. Tables were empty when we arrived and we waited about 15 to 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated, our server was great who took our orders correctly. Drinks were ordered and they were not good. Too watered down with ice.
The food itself was very good it was hot season and ready to be served which our server served it up. We enjoyed that and then afterwards we ordered dessert. I ordered a peach cobbler and the other was chocolate cake. I was served cold peach cobbler which had nutmeg poured on top of it and the taste was horrible then the server brought back a slice of cake that had too much cocoa in it with whipped cream on the side. The Coco was overwhelming and too powerful in the cake, so rather than throw it away we packed it up and left.
Some areas need up to date improvements.

Great southern home cooking. The catfish coated in corn meal and the sweat potatoes muffins are hard to beat. Don't miss the Mac and cheese and collard greens. Large portions left no room for apple cobbler. Servers were great but the kitchen was a little slow.

The food here always is amazing and satisfying. Service is great, and prices are fair. Cozy atmosphere and nice music. I enjoy my visit every single time. Patrick, the owner, adds a personable touch by strolling through to greet you and ask if your meal meets or exceeds expectations. If you have been seeking a nice, comfortable, sit-down soul food spot, This Is It!

Very nice staff here. Cornbread has good flavor, but is dry. Collard greens are ok but lack salt and don't have the ribs removed 5 out of 10. Fried chicken coating was good but the white meat was overcooked so I give them 6/10. I really like the mac and cheese. Good cheese flavor and crispy edges so that gets 8/10. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant and had no flavor and no salt. The potatoes get a 0/10. Maybe some of the more authentic southern food here is good. Might give it another shot.

Tasted some peach cobbler I just bought for Thanksgiving. Oh my my I'm in the mood to eat all day long but got to save for the day. Bought two sweet potato pies will not sample or eat until Thanksgiving. If they taste like they look The Closer I get to them the more they make me see Sweeter and Sweeter my love will grow.

The food and service are fantastic! Some of us were in Southfield, Michigan for a conference. We asked about where we could go to get really good soul food - everyone we asked named a number of places - but everyone also mentioned Beans and Cornbread as some "really good eatin". The foods presentation was really good with the edible flowers. Everything we had - including dessert was wonderful. I would highly recommend Beans and cornbread.

    SMALL THINGS BRINGS BIG SURPRISES

I was taken back initially when I entered Beans & Cornbread because there was no check-in hostess podium when you walk in. The dining room is small and intimate so you get a feel of the type of 'soul food' cooking you are about to experience. PLEASE DON'T GET DISCOURAGED WITH ANY WAIT TIME. The friendly staff quickly settles you in and the prices are very reasonable.

The managers Jaquitta Terrell and La Tanya Graddy are on top of their game. These two (2) young ladies are a gem to this establishment. However, there is no pecan pie or banana pudding on the menu! This would have raised it to a 5 ⭐️ in my opinion. The bartender is also a gem. I had an excellent visit my first time at Beans & Cornbread and I look forward to visiting it again someday.

    GREAT ATMOSPHERE

This place has great food. One of the best in Michigan. Try their candied yams, sweet potato muffins and greens! Seriously amazing!

Never had a problem with dine in, but one star off for the excruciatingly slow carryout service.

Attended a birthday party in the Velvet room. Food was great, however only given 3 stars for service. My sister didn't get her drink until we were done eating. You would think with us having a party reserved that large, a server would have been dedicated to us. Apparently she was still serving in the main restaurant because it took her forever to come back and forth. She also did not return my change after we were done...

First, we had a great server, Alicia. Fried catfish was delicious, potato salad and cole slaw just like granny use to make. Gumbo took me back to Louisiana, loved it! Great food, nice atmosphere and a great server.

Went on a busy night and the service was decent. They switched our servers due to the busyness of the restaurant. Our original server did not smile amd seemed agitated when she initially came to our table. The food was good. A few of our sides came out cold. The entrees were on point though. Im from the south (Florida) and I am used to having good experiences with collard greens. The greens here were not that good. Taste like they just boiled the greens and served them. Not sure what greens some of the other reviewers had but i would like to try them. Overall, good food for the price and i will definitely be going back while hoping for a better service experience.

I will never ever eat here again... They are very overpriced... Chicken was raw... Portion size very very small, corn bread cold, Mac and cheese awful... Go across the street where the food is better, prices lower, and service better... I stopped eating there 5 years ago do to the same thing.. thought I would give them a try again... Never ever again. It will be a cold day in hell before they get any of my business. Don't waste your money or time!

Though there was a wait to get in, it was definitely worth every minute to get our food! The food was amazing and our server Shardaya was awesome! Definitely recommend her! She does her job well and Beans and Cornbread is lucky to have a waitress like her! Great food and awesome service! Will definitely return!

LOVED their BBQ sauce! I went here last weekend to meet up with a friend from college. This place was PACKED (which is no surprise because it's amazing) but we sat at the bar and got a few drinks while we waited, which worked out nicely. My friend had the barbecue rib tips and I had the vegetarian Sloppy Joe. The barbecue sauce had a great flavor and we both really loved it. Plus the atmosphere was really cool with old pictures of jazz musicians and artwork. If you're in or near Metro Detroit, eating here is definitely a must. Amazing soul food. Going back soon to try everything on the menu!
